Hello,

is the Zen V Plus still working even as the display is barely readable?

From the look of things, the screen or inverter of your Zen V Plus is defective, that's why the display is faint. Also, it might be that the contrast was reduced to minimum accidentally.

Though it might be difficult, but check the display settings of your player and see if you can increase the contrast.

But if that's not the problem, then you might have to contact Zen via phone or e-mail and let them know if you can send it over for repairs. Or if its still under warranty, you can replace it for another.

This is because, the screen or inverter of your Zen V Plus is not available for sale, so that's why you have to contact the manufacturers of this player.

I wish you good luck.

I have a Zen V plus , the screen has become really dark I can barley read it . what should I do?

Bad news. The Zen V Plus is known for screen problems - early warning signs include screen discoloration, lines on the screen or dimming. Eventually, the screen will go black.

Possible reasons include poorly-mounted screens, short life of OLED displays, and susceptibility of screens to damage from moisture.

Best bet for a replacement screen is buying a scrapped Zen V Plus on eBay. Here's a great guide to taking apart your Zen.

In the knowledge base solutions Creative gives next answer, when the player does not power on or charge:

>>>>>
To resolve this problem, establish that the player is charging correctly as follows:
  1. Connect the player to a USB port on the back of a desktop PC, to a powered hub, or to a power adapter ( You can purchase the power adapter here as a separate accessory).

  2. Press the reset button and observe the player.

  3. Check the display for the charging icon battery_ac_charge_1.jpg.
    • As the display times out after a few seconds, press any button on the player to reactivate the display.

    • If the battery is fully depleted, the charging icon may not be displayed. Cup the player in your hands to check that the blue power LED behind the Play/Pause and Options buttons is glowing on and off repeatedly. This indicates that the player is successfully charging. After 1 hour of charging, power on the unit to activate the display. The charging icon should be displayed.

  4. Allow the player to charge for at least 6 hours. During this time, if charging from a USB port, please ensure your PC does not enter a power conservation mode (Standby, Sleep, or Hibernate) as this will interrupt charging.
Creative recommends updating your ZEN V or ZEN V Plus firmware to take advantage of new features and functionality. To learn more, visit SID 29048 in our "Further Suggestions".
Note: If the player does not indicate a charge, or will not power on after at least 6 hours of charging, please contact Customer Support.

I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD ZEN V PLUS. THE DISPLYA

ah, i have the same thing. it's damage to the screen, as far as i know. i just ignore it, except it's a pain for videos and pics. you can look around for a replacement screen if it's really bothering you, but you'll probably want to go find a repair shop to do it.

Creative Zen V Plus stops reading

· Make sure you have media player 11
· If you can, the best test is to try your player with another PC, to see if you still have the problem. This localises whether the problem is with the PC (most likely the USB) or the player. See the link below (search on "connection problems") for a lot more troubleshooting on this.
· Download recovery tool off creative's website.
