The washer is leaking water. It looks like it may be coming from the area where you put the dtergent into the detergent cup. I bought it at Bernie's and I think it has an exteneded warranty but I can't find the paperwork and Bernies is closed.

If you have water coming out of the detergent drawer, then i would suspect a clogged drain hose at the back of the drawer. If you take the lid off , (disconnect from mains ) at back of drawer small hoses take the soap powder to the drum. these can block with soap powder, ( gently push some wire or flex down pipe) dont pierce the pipe , be gentle. had this problem myself.

My LG washer machine will not rinse thru the softer section in the cup, what can I do?

then the solenoid is not actuating to allow water into drawer. take top off, very easy, two screws in back, pull back, lift off. follow hose from softer cup to little round device/solenoid. check wiring. check hose, tho you would know there was a problem with hose, because you would see a water leak. replace solenoid. hope this is the issue. good luck.

the pump is clogged, unplug the machine, remove the bottom panel,if there's water still in the tub vac it out with a shop vac, then look at the pump, the senter unscrews but first put down some towels to catch some water and have the shop vac on,turn the middle piece of the pump counter clockwise slowly, when the water starts coming out stop turning and vac it up as the water leaks out, when it slows down open it a little more while vacing the water up until it's empty. turn it all the way and remove the filter or coin catch in the middle of the pump and clean off the filter,it will be gross and the water will be stinky, stick your finger in the pump and make sure nothing is in there near the impellar and check the hose that connects to the pump and make sure it's clear, put the filter back in and turn it clockwise until it's tight, plug in the washer, fill it and then drain it to make sure the pump is working properly, check for leaks and listen for any sounds,if it sounds like something is still in the pump do the same thing and remove the filter again and look to see if you can see what's still in there,or if the water doesn't drain you could have damaged the pump and then you'll have to change the pump but they are tough,if everything looks ok button it up and your all set, also check the boot inside where the door closes and touches the rubber part, pull the boot open and check it to see if anything is stuck in it,also you should wipe it out after every use so it doesn't get stinky.also the number one killer of front load washers is using to much detergent, you should be using the H.E. detergent and should only be using like a quarter of a cupful, the instructions on the bottle is for a regular top load washer, alot of my customers use a half cup or a full cup,the extra detergent is like acid to the rear spider gear,it eats the soft metal and the gear breaks, when you put it in spin it runs very loud, then it's new washer time, the gear and the cost of labor is almost as much as a new washer.good luck and let me know how you make out

What is the best detergent to use with this? I am using powdered detergent but half the time it never comes out of the dispenser cup, after the load is done it's still caked in there.

There is a possibility that the dispenser door seal leaks water into the detergent compartment during prewash and causing the caking to occur. Try cleaning the seal area and make sure the door is being held tightly to the inner main door panel. You might also try one of the 'cubed' detergents that is supposed to dissolve after falling into the washer cavity. My wife seems to prefer them in her Maytag unit. Hope this helps!

I bought my LG washer last year and it has a sticker that says use designed for HE ( High Efficiency) detergent I havent used any other detergent and do not have the problem that other are reporting on...

Congratulations. To prevent problems in the future remember this bit of wisdom from the swamp:

The correct amount is as follows:

HE: (2) Tablespoons Per Wash load

HE 2X (double concentrated) : (1) Tablespoon

HE 3X (triple concentrated): (1) Teaspoon

This reduces/prevents:

1) Musty Odor

2) "LE" Error/Interrupted Cycle

3) L-O-N-G Cycle Times (longer than time displayed)

4) Insufficient Cleaning Results

5) Small Water Leaks from the air vent behind the washer or at the
front door gasket

6) Damaged Hall Effect Sensor (on 2007 or older LG washers)

7) Reduced Spin Speeds (laundry not spin-dried effectively)

Most consumers were doing what is *normally* the right thing to do, which is to follow directions on the detergent label. In this rare case--those directions should be entirely disregarded.

Additionally--in many LG washers--the liquid dispenser cup (blue cup) has a "MAX" line on the white siphon cap.
This was a very big *faux pas* on LGs part--this "MAX" line has NOTHING to do with measuring detergent and should never be used as a guide for determining correct detergent amount.
The "MAX" line indicates how much liquid must be in the blue dispenser cup before it DISPENSES from the bottom of the cup.
This is a very, very frustrating mistake that gives owners much grief.
Print out this manual and keep it next to your washer. It might come in handy one day:

The washer seems to leak a small amount of water, less than a cup after each wash. It looks like it is coming from the back underneath. Checked the filter and such.

You may have an oversudsing condition which will cause it to leak like this. It can cause permanent damage over time.

Try to use one eyedropper full of HE detergent, either the liquid stuff or powdered dissolved in hot water. Use vinegar for fabric softener it will rinse the load clean. Run it on a hot cycle first with a cup of vinegar to flush the detergent residue from the drum, no laundry, and see if the water runs clear and/or if it leaks, if the problem occurs you may be facing a gasket breach. More often than not it's due to oversudsing. They tell you NOT to use regular detergent and that is why.

Hello sir,i have a kenmore series 90 washer & dryer.this specific machine has top dispensing detergent/bleach&softner.when it becomes time for the softner to be dispensed on the re-fill the machine...

PLease check the hose that goes from the INLET VALVE to the dispensing system cup on your washer. This hose probably has a hole or the plastic dispensor is cracked and therefore leaking.
The inlet valve is working and when the time comes the water goes to the dispensing cup, so the system is working it is just the hose, dispensing cup or both.

Foul water smell coming from washer after using machine.

Check the hoses to make sure there are no leaks or standing water behind. Try running a cycle or two of vinegar water and baking soda water to kill any mildew that might be in the tub.
New washers often give off an odor described as a burning match or electrical smell. This is normal and is caused by the "wearing in" of clutch shoes and the heating of new paint on the motor windings.
Older washer odors are usually caused by leaving the washer lid closed when not in use. This does not allow air to circulate and dry out the moisture remaining in tub area. The air and moisture mixture becomes stagnant and creates an odor. When washer is not in use, leaving the lid up/open for air circulation will help prevent odor.

To get rid of odors inside of washer follow the steps listed below:
  1. Fill the washer with hot water; set at regular speed & longest time.
  2. Add 3/4 cup of Calgon Clothes Detergent. (Baking soda can be substituted) .
  3. Allow washer to complete entire wash and rinse cycle.
  4. If odor lingers, repeat entire process.

Leaks

The only time I've noticed a puddle on the floor was when I used too much HE detergent. No matter how big the load is, I only fill the cup to the very first line of the cup that comes with the detergent. It's no where near the max level on the detergent reservoir for the machine. Try using less detergent (way less) and see if that fixes the problem. My clothes still get squeaky clean!

Suds leaking from back of washer near top

Suds are not supposed to leak from the top; means you are not using the right detergent. Use front loading powders. You can open up the top during next wash to locate where the leak is coming from (after changing powder). I understand suds appear in the window during spin....but leak? Caution when machine works with top open!
