Check for bad solder on convergence module. May have bad stk's. Do not neglect looking for bad solder on dsignal and defl boards. Mitsubishi is very prone to bad solder.

Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.

the error light sequence that you are seeing is indicating a "backlight error". Most likely you have a bad inverter board -the board that powers up the back-lights behind the display panel. They might be available via ebay if you are a DIYer, or you need to call for sony service.

when you turn it on and then the green power light goes off:

On the front of the set press and hold both the Menu and Input buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both.

The green power light should blink a error code at least 5 times: most common is 2 blinks, pause and 2 blinks----

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means--2,2 is the most easy to fix and common.
