Hi,

It sounds like you are definatly having A voltage problem. It also sounds like it affecting the whole house. This could be a transformer issue a power company supply issue or a fuse/breaker issue. I am an electrician and have been for 13 yrs. That being said call a professional. Without being there and seing what your looking at it is nearly impossible to safely walk you through checking your voltage. 120/240 kills more people every year than any other voltage and thats what is in your home. Please trust me if you don't know let it be call a electrician and play it safe I live in pa so I am not trying to get work just want you to be safe.

refrigerators come in three types: with the freezer on the top, with the freezer on the bottom, and with the freezer and refrigerator next to each other, also called a "side-by-side." When Plus refrigerator won't get or stay cold, troubleshoot it at home before calling for service to save time and money. Always use and adjust your refrigerator, according to manufacturer's instructions to prevent voiding your warranty or causing further damage.

    Preliminary Checks
  1. If your Maytag Plus refrigerator won't stay cool, first check to make sure it is still getting power. Look to see if the plug is still in the socket. Check your household circuit box to see if the circuit breakerwe lost power and my fridge will not stay cold - mag-glass_10x10.gif responsible for the refrigerator tripped. Reset if necessary. If the circuit breaker trips repeatedly, call an electrician to diagnose the issue. Make sure the controls are on. If the power has been disconnected and you reconnect it, allow 24 hours for the refrigerator to get fully cool again.

Check the air vents on the refrigerator. These are located at the bottom and normally blow out warm air. If the air vents are blocked or clogged with hair and dust, the refrigerator won't run efficiently and cool food properly. Unblock the vents or clean them with a brush or cloth to remove the hair and dust.

Check to make sure the refrigerator and freezer doors are both completely closed. Keep the doors closed for a while. The temperature in the refrigerator can warm up if the door is being opened too frequently. Make sure all the food is placed fully within the refrigerator and all the shelves are pushed all the way back to the back wall to keep them from propping the door partially open.
  2. Temperature Adjustment
  3. If your refrigerator isn't as cold as you need it to be, try adjusting the temperature cooler. Adjust the thermostat only one degree at a time and allow 24 hours for the refrigerator to fully cool in between adjustments. Adjusting the temperature all the way down all at once will not make the refrigerator get cooler any faster.

After all your home troubleshooting efforts have failed, call Maytag or the retailer who sold you the refrigerator for service options. Have your receipt and warranty paperwork handy.

From your description , the main control board shorted . This is the electronic board behind the refrig , behind the small 8 X 10 panel . All individual parts , fans , display board , dispensor board etc , are wired directly to the control board . It is easily replaceable with 6-8 sets of plugins . WR55X10942 is the part number .

Fridge not staying cold

did you let the fridge stay in it's new place for 24 hours up right before turning it on?
Try turning it off for at least 24 hours and start it back up again.
If you moved it on its side the compressor oil flows into the lines and must beable to drain back down before using it.
If not you'll seeze the compressor.
not good.

I have a zanussu fridge

Re. Zanussi ZK87/46EFS Fridge Freezer

The same symptom occurred in our fridge freezer. The fridge compartment warmed up whilst the freezer compartment continued to keep temperature.

The cause of our problem was diagnosed as a frozen sensor that controls a flap, that controls the flow of cold air from the freezer compartment up into the fridge compartment. We were advised to power off the fridge freezer (removing all food and trays from the freezer unit first), and to leave it to defrost for 24hrs. We needed to place a few towels on the floor of the freezer compartment to soak up the melt water. After 24hrs we followed the power up instructions in the manual (versions are available online if you have lost yours). Within a few minutes it was obvious that the fridge compartment was being cooled – Problem solved :)

Refridgerator is not cooling properly

Ours does this too; it says its 34 degrees but really its 53-58 degrees. . . The compressor coolant part of the machine freezes and then it can't circulate the cold air to cool the fridge. You have to unplug it for at least 24 hours to let it thaw, or you can take out the lower drawers and shelves, unscrew and remove the lower back pannel (from the inside of the fridge). We use a blow dryer to thaw out the ice block that formed on the unit. It goes faster if it is unplugged, this fridge is horrible we lost hundreds of dollars in groceries before we figured out the problem.
