The first thing to try is to see if a button is stuck on the remote or on the TV.
Remove the batteries on the remote and see if that helps. If it fixes the problem, you'll need to replace the remote.
If that doesn't help, look close at the buttons on the TV to see if one is jammed on. If changing channels continually up, then check the channel up button on the TV, if down then check the down button.
Worst case, you might have to take the back off the TV and unplug the cable feeding the external button panel on the TV and only use the Remote (for safety, rememeber to unplug the TV while doing any work on it).
As a test, block its (or the cable Box's) remote infrared sensor so even you can't change the channels with a remote. Then watch and wait. If it keeps happening, you have a poltergeist or a defective unit.
If not, something out 'there' is emitting infrared signals that the unit interprets as channel commands. Find the remote someone is sitting on or that guy across the street who's aiming at your TV with HIS remote.
defective tac switch on the manual channel button, it is found inside under the button, this causes the program to change channel because the connection of the switch is shorted..normally it should be N.O. (normally open)...try to replace a new tac switch..
Usually this happens to my set when I am in HD cable channel mode after being on a non-digital ANALOG channel.
I basically reset the TV by changing to a DIGITAL cable channel -- stay on that channel for ten-twenty seconds -- then I switch back DIRECTLY to a HD channel (key in channel number directly on remote).
TV works fine -- seems to be a glitch when the TV changes modes from Analog to HD
take out the batteries of all the remotes that are able to change the channel and put a piece of duct tape over the infared reciever and if it still does it, it is most likely defective.
It sounds like a stuck button or switch. What happens when you hit the channel DOWN, does it still keep scrolling down?
Is this with or without the remote?
Have you tried it with the remote and or the TV?
Let me know whether you are changing the channels with the remote or the buttons on the tv and I can try to give you a couple more suggestions. Mac =)
Keeps changing channel
Check voltage on D12 if below 4.8V then change
Changes channel or volume adjusts by itself
Check S900/1/2 on pcb H1, alternatively this could be due to failure of IC005 (CD4052BCM-FL63) on pcb A
