I have installed new cartridges the colour prints perfect but the black is blurred with lies through it. i also found a small t shaped rubber piece about about 4mm x 6mm in the paper tray could this be the...

this rubber piece can be actually locket from printer rollers, but, returning to your smudgy printing

1. remove cartridges from the printer
2. check if there is bit of paper stuck anywhere in paper path, if so, remove
3. check if rollers on paper path are clean
4. touch bottom of the cartridge with absorbent tissue to check if ink is flowing through, if yes then insert cartridges back and print test page.
5. if cartridge do not allow inkflow, check what solvent is used (water, isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirit - this which do not cause precipitation is correct solvent), soak absorbent paper (tissue) with proper solvent and whipe head of the cartridge with it, 6. put drop of the solvent on golden knobs inside seats of the cartridges of the printer, allow it to soak in, wipe off with lint free tissue and put another drop of solvent in. allow soak in,
7. install cartridges back, print test page, it should start printing very weak and improving as it goes through the page (solvent will be printed first)
8. create "strip page" one line yellow, white space, one line cyan, white, magenta, white, black - print that page, this print will clean printheads and establish good inkflow.

all ink printers must print at least one page per week as to keep heads free of gum and ink in flow.

I am having a problem printing with my HP printer

you wasted your time using cleaning program and heaps of ink...

follow this procedure:

1. remove all ink cartridges from the printer
2. check if ink is soluble in water, isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirit (this which do not create lumps or precipitations is correct solvent)
3. put one drop of solvent in th centre of aspiration hole on receptable
4. if solvent is absorbed through input, that meant problem is not with printer but with cartridges.
5. check printer cartridge by stamping them with tissue if they "produce" any ink on the outlet,
6. put one drop of solvent on cartridge outlet and insert them in correct bases
7. print test page, print should be rather weak as solvent will go through the nozzles
8. print test page from computer
9.create "strip page" of each colour used, separate by no colour (white) start with yellow strip, then white, light cyan, white, cyan, white, light magenta, white, magenta, white, black - this strip pattern will force all cartridge to operate on they max delivery.

if there is no result, service by technician will be in place...

all ink based printers need to print at least one page per week... ink will dry pretty fast, especially in dry or hot condition.

The colour on my Brother 135C Printer is not printing properley, could it be that the printer heads need aligning? If so how do I do that? Regards, David Melton

I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".

This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.

Good Luck

Canon i9100: colors printing incorrectly

I've had the Canon i9100 since 2003 and have excellent photo printing results. In 2009 it started playing up and I'd gt some banding. More recently, black didn't want to print. It was as though the black ink in the print head got dry some days.

April 2010 - The colours started printing strange and I bought a brand new print head and installed it. Only takes a minute. Still had an issue with photo printing. Black and white was excellent but colours weren't true.

Found advice online to try cleaning the print head to print head carrier electrical contacts by rubbing them with a rubber eraser.

I did that and now I'm getting perfect colour photo prints again.

I had been thinking about buying a new A3+ printer but this is old printer is now working as good as new.

Cant print in colour

Not sure if you are using XP or Vista. I'm speaking from Vista but XP should apply, too.

1. You could have the 'Print in Grayscale' box checked. It is under Printing preferences > Color.
2. Your color cartridge may be empty. Print a test page to make sure.
3. Make sure print quality is Normal or Best.
4. There is a "Print all text as Black" in the Advanced tab. Make sure it is Disabled.

Epson R265 printing colours incorrectly

For the black and white issue, check the settings and make sure that it isn't set on "sepia". As for the color issue, it is quite possible that you are out of ink. Printers may use more of one color than another depending on what you're printing. Change your color cartridge.

Why does it keep running out of color ink, while printing only Black and White?

Whilst you rarely print in colour, its important to know that you should try to print in colour at least once a week. This will reduce the risk of your colour nozzles blocking up.

Many people have gone out to replace their 'hardly used' colour cartridges when they dont work, thinking that they have dried up, when infact its simply blocked nozzles.

If you want to keep your colour nozzles and ink ready to run, just do a full colour alignment every 1-2 weeks. Minimal ink usage there and you keep your Canon MP780 running well!
