If you use a multi-system TV, you can play discs recorded on both PAL and NTSC systems by setting the VIDEO OUT SELECT (NTSC/PAL) switch appropriately. However, note that you must change the switch position while the unit power is off with the DVD removed (on standby). Otherwise, the changed setting is not effective.

If you do not have a multi-system TV, note that the JVC XVS332 does not convert PAL to NTSC, it just plays both; therefore you will loose color information & see only black and white with PAL discs on an NTSC TV.

I hope that helps.

No Colour

PAL chroma operates at 4.43 mhz and NTSC operates at 3.58 mhz. Here is a link to PAL to NTSC convertors.

Your HD-52Z575 will only be able to display an NTSC signal, PAL is not compatable. There is nothing that can be done to make it play a PAL signal.

Can't get colour when playing back videos and dvd's

Is the picture still or it scrolls? You may be playing NTSC tapes and DVDs on a PAL TV or vice versa. If your TV supports multiple systems, try switching from one system to another (like NTSC from PAL).

Playing burnt dvds in black and white

Cause: You are trying to play a DVD with NTSC-standard on a PAL-videodevice. Solution: switch your video-device to NTSC-standard or to "AUTO". Explanation: I had this "Black&White" problem after I played a DVD which I downloaded from Internet. My video-device (beamer) was set on PAL and gave black&white pictures, but when I switched it to "NTSC" the problem was solved. Apperently the Sony DAV-DZ100 switches automatically from PAL to NTSC when needed.
