If your dvd is ntsc compatable then in your dvd settings menu change from Pal to either auto or ntsc also it might be that your tv needs to be changed in the same way

Will the dvp 311ok play ntsc dvd i am in australia and i am reg 4

As long as the NTSC DVDs are not region coded, and your TV is multi-standard (able to receive NTSC as well as PAL signals via A/V inputs or similar connections), the player should play NTSC just fine through it

I assume this is a PHILIPS player? If so, most PHILIPS DVD players support NTSC playback on PAL TV.

You are correct, Australia is region 4 for DVD standard. The only restriction would be region codes.

Only black and white

If you are playing different region dvds, they can be of different color formats also
(US = NTSC, Europe = PAL). If your television is not multi-format then non-compatible
DVDs will play black and white. The solution is to purchase a mutli-format TV (accepts
both PAL and NTSC formats)

Can't get colour when playing back videos and dvd's

Is the picture still or it scrolls? You may be playing NTSC tapes and DVDs on a PAL TV or vice versa. If your TV supports multiple systems, try switching from one system to another (like NTSC from PAL).

Playing burnt dvds in black and white

Cause: You are trying to play a DVD with NTSC-standard on a PAL-videodevice. Solution: switch your video-device to NTSC-standard or to "AUTO". Explanation: I had this "Black&White" problem after I played a DVD which I downloaded from Internet. My video-device (beamer) was set on PAL and gave black&white pictures, but when I switched it to "NTSC" the problem was solved. Apperently the Sony DAV-DZ100 switches automatically from PAL to NTSC when needed.
