Hi Go to www.hp.co.uk and select drivers then select your model then select your operating system (vista) if listed then down load and install the drivers (follow the instructions on the site)

If your running windows VISTA or Windows & no it is not compatable with your computer
Its a big headache I know for I have the same prplem

You need to download the LaserJet printer drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model printer and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

This is a big issue with these printers, as the pads get worn out it starts feeding multiple pages. HP used to offer free kits to repair this issue but they are no longer offering them but a lot of people are selling these kits now. I purchased a Dynex USB to Parallel Converter Cable from Best Buy and tried to connect but had no success. I then sent an email to Dynex customer service and received a reply in about 24 hours. The rep provided spot on instructions which I was able to follow to a tee. My 14 year old HP Laserjet 5P is now ready to run until it blows up.

I spent hours searching web forums and only received overcomplicated replies by people who think they are techies, none of which worked. I am 63 years old and not a techie, so if I can do it, anyone can. I have saved the email and will forward this straightforward simple fix to anyone who needs it. My net cost was $36.00 for the cable.

Not sure if this will help but if you right click on the printer and go to properties ( when your in printers and faxes ) and go to the ports tab I think it is and un tick the check box that says bi directional support and try it again.

Also what error are you getting thats printed off ?

what lights are on the printer and where are you getting the driver from, if the disc then try the latest driver from the hp website

Which version of QuickBooks are you using? Anything older than 2008 will not work with vista.

You need to install a paper jam kit. These models are notorious for having feed problems due to the paper stack standing up. I get my parts from a company called "Parts Now!" and you can get this kit from them. The part number is KIT-FEED-1100-PNO. It requires some disassembly of the printer. HP used to provide a free "defect kit" which was very simple to install, but I cannot find a reference to it anymore. Hope this helps!
