Install in my new laptop

For installing a wireless printer on Windows XP, wireless router is an essential device.

Follow the recommended steps mentioned on the installation CD of the router, and set-up a wireless network.

Since several computers or laptops will access the printer, it is recommended to connect the wireless printer to the main computer through the USB port.

To begin the installation process on Windows XP, access the network setting in the Control Panel, and activate the file and printer sharing option in the LAN setting.

This will allow the operating system to recognize the availability of a wireless printer.

Now, click the Start button, go to Devices and Printers, select Add a Printer option.

Click the second option- Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.

The computer will search for available printer and reflect it on the screen.

Click Finish; and the printer is ready to begin the printing process.

First install the Printer with USB connectivity.
Then insert the printer driver CD again. You will get the Add a Device option this time on the Welcome Screen.

Select it. Now before you continue, just add the exceptions to the firewall list.

Perform the steps given on the above document to add the exceptions to firewall.

Then Make a right click on My Computer Icon on your desktop.
Go to Hardware Tab. Select Device Mananger.
Go to View Tab on Device manager and select Show Hidden Devices.
Then search for Multifunction Adapter. Uninstall the printer icon under it.
Now click on Add a Device.
Try installing now.

I would try control panel/add new hardware/printer/wizard will try to find; if it can't, choose yourself from a list...left column will be maker;right, model...if not listed, try generic on left;printer on right.IF YOU TRY ADDING NEW PRINTER...THIS MAY WORK (in control panel/printers and fax.Otherwise you will have to download drivers from manufactures website...should be 1st option.

First disconnect the printer from the laptop. install the drivers from the CD that came with the printer. Reboot. Now connect the printer. Allow Windows to detect the printer and load its drivers and give you a message in the right bottom corner saying "The new HW is installed and ready for use". Now run the word processor and go to File->Print. Here specify this printer as your default printer. And print away.

Well it s a issues with the ip address on the printer and the computer.Both of them are not the same.You need to delete the printer icon and inser the cd that came with the printer and then try add a device .The printer drivers would be reinstalled and it should be ready to print and scan.

In Windows, how do I install my printer? Most new printers, especially USB printers, come with installer programs. If you have neither installation instructions nor an installation program, you can use one of the following procedures to install most printers:
USB printers (Windows 98, Me, 2000, and XP only)

1. Make sure that the USB cable is unplugged from your computer and your printer. USB devices work differently from older devices and usually need to have the drivers installed before you connect the device.
   
   
2. If you have an installation disk, insert it into the drive. If there is an installer provided, it should run or be executed here. Follow its instructions, and it should take care of installing your printer in a few moments.

Hi,
If you have reinstalled windows, on this hardrive using a different computer, it would not load into windows on the nortino 6770, because the windows now has the settings compatible with the other computer not this machine.
To get around this problem, you would have to reinstall windows, by placing the haddrive in the 6770 only. To do this , you can either copy the contents of the windows cd , to a flash drive or pen drive ,and then connect the same to the USB port of the laptop.
The other way , is connect an external USB cd drive and install the same.

if its a usb printer make sure it is plugged in to laptop and turned on, vista should recognise its there and make sure it has the right driver automatically, hope this helps you.

share the printer first on the main pc (desktop)
get the sharename and full computer name of the main pc, its case sensitive.......

then, install the vista driver on the laptop. (note: you need vista drivers installed locally on the laptop because the main pc has a different operating system)

after installing the driver, go to the printers folder, right click the printer icon, go to properties, go to the ports tab, hit add port.
a new window will open giving you the option of local port.
select local port then click new port! on the space type in the information you got earlier... \\fullcomputername\sharename then click add

ex: \\rblb55\Printer1

this will add a port on the selections, make sure the one thats checked is the port that you just added. click apply or ok to close those windows.

then print............
