I had one of these and after a while the CRT tube does go on them i suggest purchasing a new one, and if possible make it a TFT screen

Try changing the resolution to a lower one. Try 1024x768 or 800x600 and see if you can read the text then. If you can't then its probably a video card driver issue and you would need to reinstall the video card drivers for your computer.

Benq 19' LCD Screen 3 yrs old- no signal detected on brand new PC

Have a look at the back of your computer.

See if there is more than 1 video port.

If there are 2 ports try plugging the monitor into the other port....

Sometimes motherboards have internal video cards, in this case the video port is in among the USB ports, sound and mike sockets etc.

Look for a video port away from all those other things.

MGA 1164SG R3 video card work

You can connect it to your old monitor. As a safe method before connecting the lcd monitor to the old system go to ---- control panel --- display. Double click on it and select settings ----- advanced

Here select - monitor---->monitor settings ---> screen refresh rate. Select a low refresh rate (60 or 70,72). Press apply then ok.

Switch off the pc and remove the old monitor and connect the lcd monitor. It will work.

Computer boots fine but the monitor is blank

if the monitor works fine on your laptop, the problem definitely is at the computer, possibly with the video card (if it is using one). it could have loose connection, or parts might have damages. it seems the problem is intermittent so electronic component of the video card could have parts partially damages or leaky components.
if your still using the motherboards built in video out put, try installing a new video card.

Samsung SyncMaster 17" LCD Blacks out

If you have a second monitor, you could use your computer until the monitor goes black... then plug in a replacement monitor. My guess is that one will display black too...

My gut feeling is that your VGA card is on the fritz... I'm not convinced it's your monitor. Do you have a replacement VGA card you can try? I'll bet that'll take care of the problem.

Dell P780 17" CRT Monitor(3 yrs old) issue

That sounds like a monitor issue, not a video card. Gradual fading means components within the monitor are wearing out. However, I strongly advice against attempting repairs. CRT monitors hold a strong electrical charge. People have been injured and even killed by attempting to work on them without proper tools and training. A 17" CRT monitor is too cheap to be worth the risk (you can often get them used... I got mine for $20 at Goodwill).
