Buy a rca to aux 3mm plug then you can connect to aux port.
RCA out is for the signal to the amp from the Head Unit. Mic is probably for your cell phone.
Am pretty surprise that an HU like that doesn't have USB Ipod support?

Can no longer play ipod through v aux input.. Think it has something to do with the analog icon showing while on auto.

Describe how the iPod is connected. If digitally and you get an analog icon, find out why the digital output is not being recognized. Try a different input on the receiver or try an analog connection to prove the iPod is working.

How can i connect my ipod to a kenwood excelon XXV-01D i see the aux plug in the back and when i pluged my ipod in i cant find the mode that allows me to play it.

There is a button that should say SRC or Source. Pressing it scrolls through the modes. Press once to move to FM, another time to move to Satellite, etc.

Stop when you get to AUX.

In my 2009 Eos, I have the VW Navigation/Radio system with the MDI connection in the console. A cable with a USB end is connected to this. How do I get the system to recognize the iPod as an AUX device?

I had the same problem and I solved like a computer reboot. Go to set up in the navigation system and re-set the aux mode: stop it and then select it again. Your iPod via the aux will be recognized.

My Aux-in wont work

did you turned aux function?

turn off your player by pressing and holding volume controler.
press and hold longer (~5 sec) it again to turn it on (you should see 'tuner' in the lcd).
push up arrow to select aux and right/left to turn it on.

now you can connect your ipod and select aux (as ussual switching between tuner/cd player/aux)

cheers :)
