You need to connect the hand brake sensor wire , Should be a light green wire , if you connect this wire to the car chassis you should be good to go , check the wiring diagram in the manual or hopefully it's still on your head unit.

Try a cleaning disc. The error means your device cannot find any data on the CD. As I suspect you have tried several CD's with the same result, if the cleaning disc does not resolve the problem, then your laser:

A. May be misaligned
B. Going bad
C. Already bad and needing replacement

But replacing the laser would be expensive. You have to weigh the expense of commercial repair vs getting another unit.

There probably is some kind of backup battery to keep all the settings. Check yours car manual

There is a yellow and black wire that provides an external mute function. Make sure that wire isn't touching anything.
