Have you tried printing documents in other programs for example in "notepad" or "wordpad?
If the lines do not occur in either of those other progrrams, then the problem may not lie in your printer...

if it does happer, however, you might wanna consider getting a new printer? if much cheaper to get a new one than to get an old one fixed.

Two faint white horizontal lines

the white ghost lines are down to the charge wire within the toner cartridge being dirty, the only real way forward is to replace the toner cartridge as access to the charge chorona wire is not possible without ruining the cartridge itself

CANON IP 4300 PRINTERS WILL ONLY PRINT ALTERNATE LINES

I think your text document didn't fit the page. I have done that before. It overruns and the extra becomes the lines inbetween. To fix this use microsoft publisher to print it so that you can choose the paper size and the borders and fit the document within the space allowed.

I am scanning a photo. I have translucent lines running horizontal through the picture before i print it.

Documents scanned/copied from the document feeder pass over a thin glass area where scanning occurs. Clean this area if sent faxes, copies or scans have black or white vertical lines.
  1. Lift the document cover to expose the platen glass.

  2. Wipe the ADF scan area (C) with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water.

  3. Then wipe with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth making sure there are no residues left, especially on the platen glass.

  4. Close the document cover and make a copy of a text document to confirm the black line has disappeared.

Horizontal white lines through the text

Your ink cartridge (s) is dried up, even some new ones are dried up, even tho' they're sealed.

Some self-tests don't use black.

My Sharp Copier AR-5320 print black and white horizontal parallel lines on the documents.

Check for scratches on the drum surface. If you have ran a lot of copies on there, its a good time to get it serviced. It could be the cleaning blade on the drum as well.

Scanning Problems

I need some more information are the lines horizontal or vertical? Does it print fine from the computer? Does this problem only happen when you scan an item in and then print it or copying an item then print it? Also when you get this output do you have some of the text and lines or just lines?
