Two faint white horizontal lines

I have a HP Laserjet 1000. It is an old machine: but it has always worked well. However, lately, I have a problem with it. Every time I print a photo, it shows two faint white lines that are 3 inches apart (they are white horizontal lines). By the way, this only happens with the photos, but not with pages which consists of text only. Because the text prints are always OK. What can the cause be? I have used the HP laserjet cleaning utility several times (about 20 pages). And I have not been able to solve the problem yet. Also I have shaked the toner cartridge quite a lot of times and I do not manage to solve the problem. The laser printer really has an original toner cartridge of HP: C7115A. And in fact, I still get good prints with it: except for photos. The truth is that the photos are printed well (except for the fact that every photo always shows the two mentioned faint white lines: exactly two white horizontal lines). By the way, this problem is certainly shown in the Cleaning Page when performing the HP Laserjet cleaning utility. I have scanned one of those cleaning pages. See it in the following link: http://oi42.tinypic.com/5wxzr.jpg What might be the problem? Any suggestions?

The white ghost lines are down to the charge wire within the toner cartridge being dirty, the only real way forward is to replace the toner cartridge as access to the charge chorona wire is not possible without ruining the cartridge itself

Testimonial: "Thank you. I have replaced the toner cartrigde and the problem has disappeared."

Check the cartridge and make sure that there is no scratch on any of the cylinder. If any cylinder is scratched you will need to replace it. Perform a cleaning with isopropylalcohol in these cylinders if they are not dirty and test the printer. If the problem persists, probably the fuser film is damaged and will need to replace it. If the line still continues to appear, the laser scanner may be dirty or damaged. Try to clean it or replace it.

My hp1010 printer gives horizontal white line or bars between character.

Try a different cartridge, blank horizontal would point towards a possible drum issue. Does the defect repeat down the page?

Cannot fax hp laserjet 3055

As this is a recent problem, try to remember what you did lately with the machine. Check all the lines, cables, try to call your phone provider and ask if they made any changes in settings that made you unable to fax. Also have a look at your machine's settings - do they look ok?
If there's a problem that cannot be fixed, you'd have probably to change the machine. Or just switch to online provider - this is quite more convenient than a machine. Try Popfax fax service maybe it'll do better for you than a machine.

Our HP LaserJet 1000 is suddenly making a loud grinding type of noise. Not sure what to look for. Thanks :-)

LJ 1000 is about 10 yrs old now so it's bound to have a problem. Sounds like possible a gear grinding although the 1000 has been one of the best small printers HP has made. First to check is maybe a stuck drum in the toner by replacing it, even with an old empty one. If the grinding continues its deeper into the machine, may be the gear that drives the fuser in back . You will need the service manual to tear it down to look and see. Go to feedroller.com, scroll down the page looking for a link to service manuals on the left navigation bar. Once you get to that select HP then look in the Laserjet section for the 1000 service manual. Download it and you'll have it to do the disassembly and reassembly correctly. If you don't have the talents to work on it you may contact some nearby shops and see which might be reputable and will do the troubleshooting for a minimum just in case the parts needed will be too expensive.

Problem with vertical white line on HP laserjet 1020 printer.

there is probably toner on the laser. take a small vacuum cleaner and vacuum out the printer. DO NOT blow out the printer as it may scratch the mirror on the laser. Also take a cloth and some rubbing alcohol and wipe off all the visible surfaces inside the printer.

HP 7110 still won't print in color

Your post "...it prints very faint horizontal lines in color..." is indicative that indeed your color printheads are clogged and would need repetitive deep head cleaning. This is of course would require that you keep on cleaning until such time as the faint color lines have turned to legible print.

White horizontal, zig-zagging lines

It sounds to me like you're describing the re-trace of the unit. It is repairable, and more so the sooner you get it to the repair facility.
