I think I will save you some time telling you that there is no driver for Pixma IP1800 running on Windows 98/ME.
The printer had been built to work on windows XP/Vista, and drivers for 98 were never made.
Here or here you find two of the many threads on Win 98 driver for Pixma IP1800, all of them end in nothing. I can speak portuguese, the links wrongly provided are drivers for XP, and won't work on 98, and there is also no brasilian website distributing drivers for this printer on win 98, that was just a legend.
This happens a lot, you're going to be fine. The following links will get you up and running. I've included both Windows and Mac procedures. Use the ones that are applicable.
