Please replace with original genuine cartridge and try for this. Because the printer is seldom used and the ink got dried up in the catridge. Atleast once in a day print one or two pages daily to sort out this issue.

Best of Luck always.

Check ink u163

This is Canon's explanation of what this error refers to:

Ink has run out.

Replace the ink cartridge and close the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover).

If printing is in progress and you want to continue printing, press the Stop/Reset button for at least 5 seconds with the ink cartridge installed. Then printing can continue under the ink out condition.

The function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled.

Replace the empty ink cartridge immediately after the printing. The resulting print quality is not satisfactory, if printing is continued under the ink out condition.

My Xerox 8400 is printing the wrong colors. Where it's red, it's printing a brown shade and where it should be grey, it's printing green. My logo is grey and red and it's printing all grey, but not the...

Try printing a light stripes test page (Troubleshooting, print quality problems, troubleshooting print quality page).

If you do not appear to have many missing jets but the colours are all just wrong it may be that the ink has gone stale. Run a couple of head cleans and you should see the colours start to improve. If it is getting better, all you can do is keep running head cleans until you have replenished all the ink in the printhead well.

This problem is common in situations where a lot of black and white printing is done, with very little colour.
Alternatively, it could be that your wiper/cleaning blade is not cleaning the head properly and is smearing the different coloured inks across the head, or possibly that your printhead is leaking colours but I think the first solution should solve your problem.
Hope this helps.

Colours are not true, grey is brown

You are getting leakage from one color cartridge to another. Do deep cleaning and run nozzle check. You may have been using non-Cannon inks. They can corrode the ink cartridge seats due to inferrior quality ink. You may need to replace the print head. Check out Cannon web site under this printer support. Print head is in the $50 neighborhood.

Service error 5600 appeared when the printer stop

Dear budg,
Error code 5600 in S200 is No Print head Error indicator. In this case, the print head of the printer is faulty so that the printer cannot detect the print head. About the print out, please check if there is enough ink in ink tank to print. If there is enough ink to print, means this bad print out caused by the faulty print head. It seems that you to replace the print head.
