Hey there Phil! (Nice name)

Jacksticks are usually filtered bt colors. The 2 most common ones being Green for Audio and Pink for Microphone or Headphones for Audio and a Microphone for a Microphone. However if you're setting up a surround sound set up then there might be more, but worry not! That should be simple enough if they all are color, because then you simply just have to connect the matching colors.

HOW TO CONNECT FRONT AUDIO PINS

the connector is marked F_audio and it is located directly behind the rear facing audio jacks. should be only one plug either marked "hd audio" OR "ac97 audio". some cases are setup for either, but you only need one of them depending on what your motherboard supports.

11) F_AUDIO (Front Audio Connector)
This connector supports either HD (High Definition) or AC97 front panel audio module. If you wish
to use the front audio function, connect the front panel audio module to this connector. Check the pin
assignments carefully while you connect the front panel audio module. Incorrect connection
between the module and connector will make the audio device unable to work or even damage it.
For optional front panel audio module, please contact your chassis manufacturer.
By default, the audio driver is configured to support HD Audio. To connect an AC97 front panel
audio module to this connector, please refer to the instructions on page 72 about the software
settings.

I would like to know if I can connect a HDMI cable from My tv model WS-65315 to a Direct TV HD receiver?

NO> If your TV supports and have HDMI connections and your HD receiver has an HDMI output then you should have no problem displaying Video. Just make sure you change the input signal of your television to HDMI input. After looking at the spec's of this model these are the following inputs you have. your best picture quaity would be to use componet cables instead, which can show full screen 1080i format, your television does not show at 1080p whis is what HDMI is known for.
Connectors
Rear Input Connectors S-Video x 2 - Component x 3 - Composite x 2 - DVI x 1 - RF x 2 - 1 x RS-232C - Audio (RCA) x 6

Front Input Connectors S-Video x 1 - Composite x 1 - Audio (RCA) x 1

Rear Output Connectors Composite x 1 - Audio (RCA) x 1 - RF x 1

Another good option is use to use a DVI to HMDI connector and hook it up this way. But note: you will have to use audio cables for the DVI input.

Do I have any options to get 'audio out' instead of h/p jack?

Try the Audio 1 rear. With the headphones plugged in on some T.V.s the headphone jack unfortunately disconnects the audio from the other outputs. Try looking in the documentation to see if you can change this in the T.V.s menu as some allow you to use both for hearing impaired people. Hope this helps.,

GA-8IPE 1000 - Sound help please

as far as your first question it is possible. there may be an option in the bios. if not. you can bust out the soldering iron and solder the lines for you frontal mic port to the card.maybe put some sort of connector inline

and for your second question. there is no way. unless you upgrade your sound card. although i do have a logitech 5.1 system that uses some sort of matrix technology to emulate surround sound out of a standard stereo input. cost me 60 bucks and works great

Asus m2n E Sli board audio

I had the same problem, and it went away when I connected the the front speakers via the 'ac97' connector from the case, instead of the HD audio connector. It seems using the HD audio connector, as well as using no connector and forgetting to put back the jumpers originally set over 2 of the front audio connectors pins, will cause no audio from the back ports.
