There's an IC (integrated circuit) that handles pictures on the t.v. and can cause lines and/or discoloration on the screen. At most, having an electronics service provider changing this IC (integrated circuit) will bring back the original quality of the picture.

Does your TV have the FBT flyback transfomer with Both convergence ICs on same board if so you can order the whole board and just swap it out I think they are 135.00 or you can just replace BOth of the ICs will have part number on them example STK394-020 Call Mats for ICs 1-800-628-1118 and for whole board call Encompass Parts Distr. 1-800-638-3328 you can also look up parts online at Encompass Parts.

I think your TV have a trouble inside lcd panel
the controller board contains driver IC. Deffective driver IC can cause of line display.



Three reasons why one vertical line accross screen can happen in LCD;

1.The missing signal from the controller IC to
LCD driver.
2. LCD driver IC itself defective
3. Dry contact in the tape carrier package.

Use masking or electrical tape to mark it where the line was located. press it if the line back to normal but when release your hand came back i think it was intermittent. Open the LCD panel

This issue is almost always caused by a faulty Convergence IC inside your TV. These chips heat up and can become damaged over time. The most common cause I have seen for the picture distortion is the heat of the Convergence IC weakening the solder connection to the TV circuit board. If you look on various messages board you will see people rigging wooden dowels and other items to apply pressure to the chips in order to correct their picture issue. This works because when the solder joint is weakened the chip becomes loose and vibrations or pressure will cause it to work or not work correctly. Aside from all that information the correct fix is to have the IC chips replaces on your TV.

The solutions for this issue are as follows:

1. located a tv repair shop that will replace the parts for you. I had the same issue with my 65" Tv and the quote was $350 for the labor and parts.


2. You can ordered the IC replacements yourself online by going to google and looking up a reseller of the STK392-110 Convergence IC that is inside your model TV. You will need 2 of them and they cost around $6 each. If you have the soldering skills to remove the old chips and install the new ones this is by far the most cost effective route. It is a fairly simple process and guides can be found online.

No as long as the STK number is the same they will work. Just be careful where you get the parts as alot of places online sell cheap chinnesse made ICs and they wont last. I usually get mine at the following link, and I havent had any trouble with their ICs.
