This sounds like the power supply went out. If you have an indicator light on the set and nothing else works. It could be the bulb though

You have to have an HDMI, DVI, HD, or RGBHV input on the back of your tv. Get the proper cable to go from your computer the tv, plug into your tv, select the right input that matches where you have plugged it in. Lastly you will have to hit function 4 on your computer to change it to remote viewing monitor.

Most Laptops have a VGA output port. You would just hook this to the VGA input of the TV for video (picture).
You would then need to hook an audio cable from the laptops headphone jack to the TV's VGA's Audio Input jack.
Newer laptops have a HDMI output so that is easier and can hook directly to the TV's HDMI input for both video and audio.

The HD channels will require using a HDMI or other suitable connection regular cable input will not allow HD channels

just make sure that the capacitor that you replaced has the same voltage rating and capacity. if still is just a clicking, you must check the regulator and FET transistor in the power supply board if get busted.

Projection sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3d, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. The power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

What you will need to do is convergence. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com . It includes replacement parts, step by step instructions, support, etc.
You can also read more about this on the tips page here on Fixya. Here is the link.

Unplug set and do not plug again---something has burned so there is a risk of fire---unless you are familiar with fixing sets consider having a tech come out or take set to a shop for a estimate.

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.6_17_2012_3_16_16_pm.jpg6_17_2012_3_16_36_pm.jpg

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

in the model listed the set will "turn off" the tubes if No High Voltage, a vertical or horizontal circuit loss of sweep etc.

Need a schematic and a meter to start checking things.

Factory setting will not cure a convergence problem---in customer menu look for convergence and see if it will adjust---if not and looks 3d etc parts have to be replaced and set adjusted.

There are kits for this available on the internet by brand and model number.

May or may not be a do it yourself repair depending on what skills you have.

one or two of the capacitors are weak over heating,or it can be something else like the power board.
