The left side hinge has come out of it's socket and will not lay flat on the glass and allow automatic feed from the document feeder. i need to find out how to get the hinge back in place.
SOURCE: the lid won't close
We don't sell or manufacture the hinge. If your printer is still under warranty, please call our technical support team to have the printer replaced. If not, it would be best to have the hinge repaired to any local computer shops near your area.

Yes I had the same problem. If you pull the top totally out as far as you can (leave wires attached and do not damage them) down in the hole where the document feeder normally stableizes and holds the top in place there is a metal spring. If you remove the spring the top document feeder will again lay flat and it will not give you any further problems in that area. However, my print head began acting up and will not "read" the full ink tanks, they always configure as empty and the printer will not work. After trying to read articles on Lexmark until my eyes were crossing because I did not want to pay a Lexmark technician to help over the phone I finally resided to the fact that my wonderful mahine was worthless after just a couple of years and puchased a cannon. No more Lexmarks for me after this go around, and I have used them for 15 years so that is a huge statement coming from a long term customer!
