Panasonic door I bought the correct tool to remove the cowling on my Panasonic Inverter microwave, challeneged as from research I learned all Panasonic have the same weak door latch that breaks, mine at 14 months, and the repair cost is nearly the price of a new one. Panasonic knows of the problem and offers customers a new microwave at 50% off. It will happen again so never ever buy another Panasonic. With the cowling off we could see the broken plastic part, I called panasonic and it took six calls to identify the part name becasue they never deal directly with the public, only repair shops. They would not release the schematic. the plastic part is $6, we placed it, but I bumped the door release in the process so it starts off and on. It wont start unless the latch is engaged properly. I can't see which part I bumped.

SOURCE: Has Panasonic rectified its inverter design problems?

Parts for this model (including the inverter) can be had via Panasonic in the US at http://www.pasc.panasonic.com/epartr Canada's safety requirements may be different enough from those in the US that Panasonic does not make the inverters available as a spare up north. Any competent electronics technician should be able to fix the inverter, but many appliance repair shops (and appliance techs) do not do component-level repair. Everyone has his specialty. You may have to call a TV shop to get this kind of service. I would definitely suggest you get a servicer who is authorized to do warranty service on Panasonic microwaves, even though this one is not under full warranty. Follow the "servicer locator" link at the page mentioned above to find such a servicer. I would suggest that you include the last letter when you refer to your model number, such as NNP294SF or whatever the last letter is.

SOURCE: Door latches will not close

If you gently push up on the door latches (hook-like devices on the door) there should be spring tension. If they just flop right up, the spring is off.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

We have critical safety & disassembly info at our site, linked here.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

The best place to order Panasonic parts is Tritronics. You can also call them at 866-779-5835.

SOURCE: My panasonic microwave stops working after 6

If it stops after 7 seconds, it has a problem with the inverter.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

You can find an authorized Panasonic servicer here.

Our panasonic inverter microwave (3 years old) needs repeated hard slams to shut the door so that the light goes off and the microwave will work. How do we fix this problem as I'm afraid we are going to...

We have a Panasonic Inverter microwave. Door became difficult to close and had to slam it hard while holding themicrowave to keep it from moving. When opening the door did not pop open but did unlatch. I ordered a new door lever from Panasonic. When got part I removed case from microwave and lever was okay. I then removed the perimeter strip on the inside of the door. With a screwdriver I stretched the spring at the bottom that keeps the door latches pulled downward. Spring still worked just not as stiff. Put perimeter piece back on the door and replaced housing (which I didn't need to remove in the first place), and then put a small drop of vegetable oil on the cams where the door latches hit when closing door. Viola, door opens and closed as new. Problem solved. Diagnosis: over time the latch tension spring hardens and gets too stiff. P.S.: I had several similar springs as backup in case I screwed up the original one.

Just had a panasonic inverter nn-cf778s delivered today.on microwave setting it continues to run after the door is opened, surely this cant be correct.

No it definitely isn't. Sounds as though they got the interlocks connected incorrectly, or the control panel is defective.
Either way, you definitely need to send it back to where you bought it.

My microwave panasonic starts and then switches off automatically in 15 secs, why does it do that?

if your unit has inverter on it then your magnatron or possibly the invertor PCB is faulty, to determine which you will need to replace either the magnatron or the invertor, or both, which is an expensive repair either way, a DIY repair on either part can be dangerous without the correct tools and training to remove. if you feel competent then post back to me, but you will need a supplier for these parts.

Panasonic S943 microwave activates when door is opened. Light, Fan, and Turntable all come on when door is opened. Still cooks normally when door is closed.

I had exactly the same problem with Panasonic NN-S962. I found very useful technical guide on the following website: http://www.eletrodomesticosforum.com/es/cursos/horno_microondas/Inverter.pdf
In the troubleshooting table on pages 31-32 it correctly states that this problem is caused by shorted primary switch. The technical guide has diagrams and photos helping with locating primary switch. I ordered a replacement switch from Sears PartsDirect (part no.46-692286-3). However, it is a common Omron switch V-15G-3C25 or its replacement with 16A analog sold by Sears PartsDirect that may be purchased cheaper elsewhere. After I replaced the switch my microwave started working normally. It was the easiest fix ever. Took me more time to research the problem and find the right part than actually fix it. That's why I decided to post this solution to save time for those who experience similar problems (looks like a fairly common problem for Panasonic microwave ovens).
