Taper proof button was accidently set on the remote..cant shut t.v off..change channels, turn volume up or down. please help

Two pieces of information:

First thing to try is unplug the set and a box or receiver if you use them for several minutes from power, then plug things back for power and see if that helps.

Second, Sony is one of the few companies who uses the same access code to reset all their sets for the last 20 years, if it comes on and responds to the Sony original remote you can try that,

set is off, Then with the remote Display, 5, volume up, and power.

If set comes on you should be in the service menu---do not by accident touch any buttons randomly : what you want to touch is 8 (reset or write should appear on the screen in red, then hit enter and the word should change to green and the set shut off.

turn back on with remote and see what happened or not.

Try to unplug set and whatever is being used for signal from power, if set returns to normal operation you may have to delete that channel from the set memory.

Cable or Sat boxes can cause this issue by confusing the micro processor in the set.

you can always use the button on your Tv itself.

ie menu = Menu
Channel up/down = take you up and down
volume = goes left and right.

follow these steps

Menu,
channel down button to CHANNEL
press the volume button along
channel down button to AUTO STORE
press the volume button to Start the scan.

right now you have your telly tuned in. What you could do it get an old sky remote off a friend/ neighbour. or buy from argos etc ( a lot cheaper then getting a replacement samsung one)

press the following buttons on the sky remote to program it to work with your samsung tv.

TV,
RED + SELECT
TV.
0060

try the volume if this works press SELECT to save this code if it doesnt press Tv then try the volume again. repeat this step until the volume works your telly. once it doest dont forget to press the SELECT button to save.

Now you will be able to change your volume use the number keys. if you also press the HELP button on the sky remote this will also change your AV / SOURCE I hope this post helps you out. When it does please leave a thumbs up for me Please

It could be a stuck button on the set. check to make sure they all feel the same.. If one don't feel right try to free it .. If a button is stuck it wont let any of the others work or the remote.

The up/down ch buttons will only go to channels that are set up in the tv....go to the menu....settings....and set up the channels you wish to view, once the channels are set up, the buttons will work

All you have to do is turn the TV on and turn to a channel that doesn't prompt the V-chip password (even if it's snowy) and hold down the volume (down -) button on the main unit while holding down the number "0" on the remote control. It might take a few tries, and you might need to change the TV channel for some reason but if done correctly, either the TV will turn off, or the menu screen will pop up and ask if you want to set the vchip password, either way you should be able to watch your TV now! :)

I have Sanyo TV. This problem started after I got into a sub menu with choices of volume lock and channel lock. I accidently set it the volume lock to ON. I could not go to that menu again. It seems that this TV has the feature of securing the volume so that the kids can't change it. Any way to go to the locks sub menu?

press the channel up and down together the menu will come up then you can use the volume up and down to toggle on what you want.if that does not work you will have to call the tech to lift off the eeprom from out of the set and resolder it back,so that the tv could reset it self.good luck.

WHat can I do if I dont have the original remote????. please help!!
