Tamper proof Help!! My tv-vcr combination tv tamper proof light came on. My tv is in stop mode. Blank screen but still running. I inherit this tv from my dad. Would love help. I'm thinking it might need some kind of code. If anyone can please help me, thank you. Tammy

    I have the same problem: "tamper proof" light is on, which apparently makes the TV impossible to use. Not sure what I did to have this happen, but am desperately trying ton UNDO it! These are great little TVs. Can anyone help me?

    same thing its just stupid why do they even make that button i cant get it to work oh well... hope a soulution comes up

    i must have fiddled with the tamper proof button in the dark- and couldn't turn on the tv. oh but the frustration of the last 24 hours picking apart the remote contol.. suddenly a light bulb went off and i decided to google sharp tv - lo and behold the answer to my problem came up.. online....three cheers for google... three cheers for fixya



    lesson.. need to upgrade to a 21st century tv set

OMG!!! You are wonderful! My hero!! I can discontinue searching for a replacement for awhile longer. I like this little TV next to my computer. Bless you for sharing your knowledge.

"best solution" is the perfect solution! I turned this thing on in my sleep, while trying to adjust volume, or change a channel or turn the dang thing off.... omigosh; i sure didn't need this tamperproof thingy coming on!! Thanx guest!!

Hold down the tamper proof button on the remote for about three seconds. the tamper proof light will flash a few times then the light will go out. hold the button down until the light goes out. that's how to turn it on too. damn fool feature, don't buy sharp.

How do you cancel the tamper proof feature, tv will not turn on, tamper light just flashs
My guess is that the television has been dropped or opened/taken apart which tripped a tamper switch. It my be as simple as finding this switch somewhere on the inside of the tv, and resetting it or shorting the wires to bypass it, or it may be a situation where once the tamper switch is tripped, the tv shuts down forever. I wouldn't recommend opening the tv yourself. They store enough power to kill you, even when it's been unplugged for a while.

Please tell me how to turn off tamper proof on my Sharp tv/vcr combo without original remote. The remote I have doesn't have a toggle button. Thank You!
As you know, the Tamper Proof function is activated and de-activated holding the Toggle/Source/Input button for about five seconds.

If your universal remote does not have this button (under any name), then try all buttons.

Try also disconnecting power cord for five minutes, this will reset most TV functions.

If still no luck, then you will need a different remote to get rid of the function.
Try all buttons on your remote. If the Tamper Proof had been activated using this remote with this codes, then it can be turned off using the same remote.

Remote control for Sharp TV
Hold down the tamper proof button on your remote for up to ten seconds, until the tamper proof light will blink and light will go off. This will turn off the Tamper Proof button.

Tv stuck on tamper proof
If the TV is the same as the one that my father has, hold the tamper prof button in front the tv, and it flashes like 3-4 times. then the tamper button should be turned off.

Tamper proof when you don't have original remote
If you have a universal remote you have to hold the button that says toggle or a button equilivent to that for five seconds than the tamper proof light will turn off than you can you tv on I had to figure this out on my own.

Problem
There should be a "TP" or "Tamper Proof" button on the remote for the TV. You need to press and hold this button for a few seconds. It seems the Tamper Proof mode is a child lock of sorts.
