Question about GE 35GT690 35" TV

1 Answer

GE 35GT690 (No remote, how do I set it to Video?)

I own a GE 35GT690 TV, its probably from the late 90s or early 2000, I bought it from a friend with no remote control, I recently got FIOS and the technician was somehow able to set my TV to Video, so that the cable could work; however I accidently changed the channel on the TV and can not get the TV to go back to Video (Channel 3-4 wont work). I called Verizon and they said they could send somebody out, but would charge $100 to come out!! Can anyone help me out here?? Once again I just need my TV to switch to Video without a remote. Thanks for your help!

My 625 unit (often not always) stops early and I miss the last min or so of the show. I have set all timers to 0 early and 0 late.

Hey jimmie love,

Just a quick clarification; does this only happen on certain shows? Some channels do run late.

You can always try setting the timer to end 2-3 minutes late and see if that works. Let me know here if you have any information or if you have any questions.

I bought my 19" Proscan LCD (19LA25Q) used from a

The Proscan 19LA25Q came with a remote originally. Unless the IR receiver has failed, it should work with a universal remote. (Note: if the TV is newer than the remote (or released less than 6 months before the remote was programmed), the remote codes for your TV may not be included.) Since the code lists on universal remotes do vary depending on the age and model, please give more information than just the brand. GE remotes usually have a version code label in the battery compartment. This version code is needed to look up the correct code lists. Some GE universal remote built by Jasco codes are here: https://byjasco.com/support/ge-universal-remote-codes.

The Proscan 19LA25Q was probably built in 2007, since there are reviews from 2007. That was also the year when this size TV had to have an ATSC tuner. So if your remotes were programmed before July 2007, they may not be compatible. Some of the current Proscan TVs probably use the same parts as some Sylvania, RCA and Curtis TVs.The 19LA25Q was warranted by On Corporation which has control of the RCA brand now. However, I don't know when they bought the label.

Amazon lists a few direct replacement remotes for the 19LA25Q. See https://www.amazon.com/Original-Proscan-Control-E20F-19LA25Q/dp/B00KQVDRNK and https://www.amazon.com/PROSCAN-Replacement-Remote-Control-19LA25Q/dp/B009H5QVIO . Remotes.com also has a replacement remote: http://www.remotes.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=19LA25Q .

I hope this helps.

I know of two Bonnevilles that leak into the back seat and floor when it rains. Is this a common problem with this late 90s cars

Yes and No, depending if the car has been sitting out in the sun longer than others. over times seal tend to wear or rotten especially the one setting out more in the sun. back window tend to get beaten more its the way the window sit exposing more to the sun, beside the front windshield which has stronger and thicker rubber. Manufacture who produce those rubber seals for GM, I never though they were good seal. GM always has problems with there rubber seals when it come to convertible and T- tops. back in the the early 80's to the late 90's was horrible. 2000' are much improvement.

Broken rear axle brackets

Find a local engineer who uses wax impregnated nylon, it can be machined to your requirements just like billet steel and will last much longer than the original.

Will not show channels below 51

The GE (actually RCA) 35GT690 uses the CTC187 series chassis. The tuner uses the VHF circuits for cable channels lower then 51 and the UHF circuits for the higher channels. This means that the VHF circuits have stopped working in your set. I usually find that this is caused by a defective U7301 IC in the tuner, the SIP IC labeled CXA1594L. This is a very difficult IC to change and all tuner ground solder joints should be resoldered too, so that should be done by someone with experience in the CTC187 chassis.
