After adding ink cartridge printer stopped working

Printer carrier stall message. After looking inside everything looked in place except the pully belt looks loose.

  • DPL-canada Mar 04, 2009

Our Dell 966 just did the same thing - in searching the web I found a reference to a "self" fix solution to reposition the white tension wheel using a piece of thin wire. You have to take the printer appart to do it.

Does anyone know a parts supplier for Dell printers. I can't find any reference to printer parts on the Dell site. Would like to fix the printer properly

Parts for any ink jet printer are rare due to the low price of the machines. Technicians rarely repair them for the same reason. Who would want pay a technician $75.00 to repair a $100.00 printer? Consequently, parts generally not available beyond a few major sub-assemblies.

I got always the message Print Head not installed

follow these steps:
1.
Turn the open the top cover. Wait for the cartridge carrier to stop moving, then lift the first cartridge out of the printer. Tilt the cartridge forward, then carefully lift it out of the printer.
2.
Examine the electrical contacts on the bottom of the cartridge. Look for any tape that might be covering those contacts. New print cartridges ship with this tape to protect the cartridge and prevent leaks. If you fail to remove this tape, the printer cannot sense the cartridge and it might return a "print head not installed" error.
3.
Remove the rest of the cartridges from the printer. Check them for tape and other obstructions. Also check the cartridges for leaking ink, and clean them if necessary. Discard and replace any cartridges found to be leaking.
4.
Clean the ink cartridge carriers thoroughly, using a soft cloth or a small vacuum cleaner designed for cleaning computer components. Paper dust and ink residue can accumulate in the carrier and cause communication issues with the printer.
5.
Place the ink cartridges back in the printer and close the top cover. Power cycle the printer if the error message does not go away immediately.

How do you fix error message 5100 on my canon mx320 printer. I just went and bought new ink cartridges for it and put them in and now it doesn't work and this error message shows on my laptop

error 5100 means that the printer cartridge carrier can not move freely.

see inside the printer and find the one causing the cartridge carrier to stop. It could be a piece of paper or a dried ink on top of the absorber pads.

"Print carrier stall"?

Error 0502-Carrier Stall indicates a physically blocked carrier. This condition can occur for many possible reasons. Most often, the carrier is blocked because the ink cartridge lids are open while the printer is on (Figure 1).

My Brother 240-C printer stopped working.

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

Carrier Stall is the error

Hi,
Please do the following..

To check the cartridge carrier:
  1. Unplug the printer.
  2. Move the cartridges to the left by hand and then take them out.
  3. Try to print without the cartridges in the carrier. Do you still receive a Carrier Stall error message?
  4. If not, put the cartridges back into the carrier and snap them in at the back. The message should no longer appear.
If the power light on the printer is not blinking, the error message may be caused by a communication error. Do the following:
  1. Remove any other devices attached to the USB/LPT port.
  2. Uninstall the Lexmark printer.
  3. Connect the printer directly to the PC and ensure that power is being supplied to the printer.
  4. Reinstall the printer.
Thank you....

Lexmark 4530 right cartridge incorrect message. unplugged unit, cleaned cartridge nothing works.

The compatible cartridges for the X4530 Lexmark printer are the # 23,23A,24,24A,31,34,35. If you have the correct cartridge number and still says cartridge incorrect, try this steps.
1. Get a damp and a dry paper towel.
2. Set the ink cartridge right side up on the damp paper towel so that the ink nozzles are against the towel and hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds. ( try this for around 5 times )
3. Now wipe the print head (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean. ( try this around 5 times )
4. Next dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.
5. Remove the power adaprtor behind the printer.
6. Using the dry paper towel, clean the metal contacts on the cartridge carrier inside the printer. ( try this 5 times )
7. Place the Cartridge back to the printer, connect the power adaptor.
8. Check if there is any error message. If same problem persist, try to contact Lexmark Technical Support.

The printer carrier slams to the right, when i try to print, and the readout says , carrier stall

A gear in the carrier is stripped or has fallen out of place.I've had this happen on several ink printers where the in-users jammed the printer and then forced/pulled the print head. You can often take these apart and get them serviceable in the short term. But once they break they don't last. I don't know what model printer you have specifically and I've never bought the parts for replacment, but in most cases it isn't worth the effort.
