I had this same problem two years ago, but with a top load washer. I had to replace the lid switch, which is what activates the spin/drain cycle when the lid is closed. Sounds like the same problem with yours, although yours would be a door switch, since it's a front load. If you find out that's the problem, this might be the part you need.
