Sounds normal. Most machines do spit out a little water, rinse for a moment to loosen any trapped soap before they drain and spin.
Testimonial: "Actually it runs the rinse & spin cycle including sensing the load, filling and agitating the load then draining and spinning, whether I set it on rinse & spin OR drain & spin. The first 10 months I owned the washer, it actually pumped out the water then spinned - no rinse cycle. If it had done it from day one I would have thought it was just a quirk - that there really was only a rinse and spin. I only ran it when a full wash cycle had run, but hadn't spun out - every time it was because the load was too out of balance for the washers high speed spin cycle - the clothes were not soapy."
Try resetting the service panel. 1.) With an empty washer- unplug the cord from your power source to the machine 2.) Cut the circuit breaker to the washer and leave it off for at least 10 minutes 3.) Turn the power back on the breaker and plug in your washer. It may not work but sometimes resets the sensors. Good luck.

If pump works fine or still pumps out water, then it is a timer malfunction. Replace the timer and you should be fine. To locate a part number for your timer, refer to www3.sears.com with the model number off your washer.
