Hi, I am having trouble with my computer screen running Windows 7. Half of the screen stops functioning or displaying.

Sometimes when I change my background, only half of the background will change. It splits horizontally, almost down the middle, except their is basically a straight line and around the middle of the screen, it will go up in a straight line about an inch, then back in a straight line horizontally across the rest of the screen. I also am having an issue where I will open a web page and I can't scroll up or down on it. I then press the "Show Desktop" button on the bottom right of the screen, it goes to the desktop, then I press it again, and the web page shows up and is affected by my previous scrolling. It then functions properly, but the problem will repeat itself frequently. If anyone can help me out, it would be much appreciated. I was told it might be the graphics card, but I re-installed it and still have the problem. HP insist it is a graphics card problem, and gave me a brand new replacement. I turned it on and was experiencing the same problems immediately. Did I get two defective laptops in a row, or is there a simple fix to my issue? Thanks!!!

Could be a potential driver issue. I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. Don't get it from HPs site, but rather the vendors site (ATI, nVidia).

Change screen orientation

Computer users occasionally have a need to rotate, or "flip," a monitor display to be better able to read long documents or to view pictures. Because rotating a computer screen is such a basic function, modern operating systems (Windows XP and up) include hot keys and display options that enable the user to rotate the computer screen by 90, 180 and 270 degrees. Rotating the computer screen allows for more display options. For instance, when rotated 90 degrees, a 1680x1050 monitor becomes a 1050x1680 monitor, which provides more vertical pixels than a standard display.

Windows XP/Vista Monitor Orientation
Minimize any windows or programs to the taskbar. Click the desktop. Press "CTRL" + "ALT" at the same time. Press one of the arrow keys to flip the monitor orientation by 90, 180 or 270 degrees. The left arrow rotates the computer screen 90 degrees; the down arrow rotates the computer screen 180 degrees; the right arrow rotates the computer screen 270 degrees; the up arrow resets the monitor orientation. Rotate the computer screen in Windows Vista by opening the Control Panel, searching for "Tablet PC" and changing the "Orientation" drop box to the desired rotation. b> Windows 7 Monitor Orientation b> Click the Start menu at the lower-left hand part of the screen, and open the Control Panel. Select "Display," then click "Change display settings" from the left column. When using multiple monitors, select the monitor that you would like to rotate. Click the drop box next to the "Orientation:" option. Select the desired rotation and click "Apply." Click "Keep Changes" or "Revert," depending on preference. Click "Apply" in the Display Settings window. Click "OK" to finish. Hope this helps

Radeon X1650pro suddenly stopped functioning

You may have to uninstall prior drivers and re-install the most current. If you have been operating this card with Windows 7 then, it must be compatible. http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/CatalystAGPHotfix.aspx This is AMD's link for your card. If it is indeed an AGP card I would try the driver listed for your operating system. It worked with Windows 7 but the current drivers may not work. If you have upgraded your drivers in the past yourself, you may want to see if you can find the last compatible driver that worked for you and/or you may want to start over altogether if you have the installation CD. You may also want to try the Vista driver, which will sometimes wirk with Windows 7. If it's at all possible, you might want to test the card on a family or friends computer with the AGP slot. Good luck. Dave

How to change your Windows 7 display settings

In Windows 7 there are serveral ways to get to your display settings. I have detailed them below in options so that you can access them as needed.

Option 1

Right click on your desktop and select "Screen Resolution"

Option 2

1. Right click on your desktop and select "Personalize"

2. Next click on "Display"

3. Click on "Adjust resolution"

198b5a3.png
Option 3

1. Click the Start button and click Control Panel

2. Next click on "Display"

3. Click on "Adjust resolution"
Once you are in the Screen Resolution you can set the resolution you want.

Note the resolution that is set now is a wide screen resolution. If you have a standard monitor the equivalent resolution would be 1280 x 1024.

ce5e0dd.png
After you have made the needed changes click on Apply then OK to save your changes.

Note if you are still have trouble with your monitor displaying right you may need to install the monitor drives. Windows is not going to have the actual drivers for all monitors. So in picture below you will see where is shows "Generic PnP Monitor" this means that the computer is using a generic driver. You can access this screen by clicking on "Advance Setting".

If you need to install the monitor drivers the link below will take you through the steps of installing the monitor drivers.

Hi i just installed windows 7 and i am having trouble connecting wirlessly i hav a medion wim 2160

It sounds like you installed Win 7 on a computer you already have. If so, you will have to download the correct drivers for wireless, sound, video, etc. from the manufacturer.
Next, you'll need to be sure your wireless adapter is actually turned on. Sometimes this is a switch on the side of the computer and sometimes a soft-switch (Fn + special function key combo).

I have a 20 inch lg lcd monitor..I am using a pentium 4 processor with 101 intel motherboard..I installed windows 7 ultimate but I cant find a display driver from lg for this. I cant experience AERO...

Hi there,

In order to experience Windows Aero effects you generally need to have a minimum windows experience base score of at least 3.0. To determine your score go to your start menu - control panel - system and maintenance - performance information and tools.

In this screen you will see your score for a number of different components of your computer. One of these is graphics, which is the score for running windows aero. This score generally needs to be at least a 3.0 to get all the functionality of Aero running smoothly on your computer. The only thing you can try to do is update your graphics drivers to see if this can increase your rating. This can sometimes be done through windows update. The LG driver unfortunately will not be able to help you in this regard as it is only a driver for the display, not the graphics capabilities of your computer.

The only option would be to look into getting a new video card. With a new one you should be able to experience Aero effects again.
