Leaking Kenmore fridge

Normal 0 Hi .
I have Kenmore refrigerators model 46-66812.
The problem with it that the water is leaking inside themain section of the refrigerator..
I defrost the refrigerator and opened the back panel of thefreezer (top part) and checked the drain. I was able to insert a wire onlyabout 10 cm. It felt like it is not just clogged with ice or something, butthat it is closed with something hard. Is it right? Should not it be open allthe way to the bottom? What could be the problem? What should I do?
I really appreciate you advice.

    Thank you for your response.

I pored little bit of water in the drain in the freezer compartment
and it started coming out from under the back panel of the main compartment in
the place where middle rail for the shelves was mounted (there is small gap
there between the panel and the place for the screw), and from under the vent
hole on the top ( I removed the electrical assembly from the top of the main compartment).

    Thanks

I tried to insert rigid wire into the drain from the top. It
goes inside only about 10cm and hit something hard, like plastic plug. Before I
did this I defrosted the refrigerator for 24 hours. It feels like the drain is
closed with something. And it is not ice. What could it be?

I also tried to insert the same rigid wire from the bottom and
it hit something hard half way to the top. Is the drain supposed to be open all
the time from the top to the bottom?

    Thanks

Ok sounds like a froze or blocked defrost drain.take a pice of weed eater line about 6 feet .tie a good knot at one end.then feed the unnotted end down the drain hole and pullout at other end.when you pull the nott witt clean drain.if it wont go thru it may be frozen.you can shut it down over night or use blow dryer.watch out for water and electricty

Kenmore coldspot model 106 53532300 leaking on the floor, freezer side.

Hi,

please double check that your freezer door is closing properly. You can also pull the fridge out and check whether the water is coming from the back of the of the fridge. If not, then that means there's a leak under the fridge and if that's the case you'll need to schedule a diagnostic on the fridge. You might reach out to Kenmore over the phone directly to ask them to send you a technician for this.

Thank you.

Water leaking inside refrig below ice maker

Hi

Most times this is a plugged defrost drain system. The defrost heater in the freezer section melts the frost and changes it to water, this water is suppose to flow down a drain system. If this drain system is restricted or plugged the water will leak inside the refrigerator. The drain system starts in the freezer section with a tray built under the evaporator coil. The water is funneled through a small hose into a cup in the top middle of the fresh food section ( not on all models, but this is the most common way ), from there, the water is directed out the back wall to a drain hose that runs down the back of the refrigerator into a condensing tray. The heat created under the fridge makes the water evaporate and disappear. Some of the cups ( in the top back of the fresh food section ) can be removed for cleaning. A turkey baster can be used to help clean out the drain system. Fill the baster with hot water and "blast" it into the drain hose to help flush it out. A piece of wire or pipe cleaner can also be pushed into the drain hoses to help clean then out. On a S x S style of fridge the drain system is in the bottom back of the freezer section and often you will have to remove the evaporator cover to access the drain hole. You can clean this out in the same manner as previously mentioned, but because of the water leaking into the freezer instead of the fresh food section you will have to remove the ice build up to clean out the drain system. For some reason Whirlpool has found a need to "hide" the drain hose inside the walls now ( Whirlpool makes many of the Kenmore branded refrigerators ) on there top freezer refrigerators. This makes accessing the drain hose to flush it out more difficult, no cup inside the fresh food section, no hose down the outside back wall and the only access is inside the freezer section behind the back false wall and under the evaporator coils.

Leaking Kenmore fridge

The wire could not bend past a a curve in the hose. Blow it out with a tire pump and compressed air or you also can buy a can of compressed air. Another option go from the bottom of the drain lone above the drip pan and run the wire up,or blow it backwards..
