I have a Kenmore HE2t washer. I get an F28 error code when running diagnostic and when attempting to run a wash. Took back off and found two broken shock absorbers on same side. Will this cause the F28 error or do i have at least two separate problems? At first attempt the washer was sporadically taking in water and spinning at slow speed. Came back an hour later to find F28 error code. From that point onward all i could get the washer to do when attempting to wash was to lock the doors. Then it would freeze for a while and finally show the error code. Have checked for loose wires to no avail. In diagnostic mode it seems to do everything except spin at high speed (it does spin at slow speed). I don't even know if it is supposed to run at high speed in diagnostic. The washer has been moved around quite a lot due to constructions/renovation and this may have resulted in the broken shock absorbers. My wife is going to make me wash the clothes in the tub if i don't get this fixed. Help me!!!! Thanks...

It's a bad wax motor inside the door latch. The diagnostics are buggy and do not test it properly. It should measure about 1.5K ohms, and when 120 VAC is applied to it, it should extend in about a minute. Part number 12002535 is $10 to $15.

First try unplugging the machine for a few minutes and then retry a cycle. If you still get the LE error:
The Hall sensor (part number 6501KW2001A) has failed. The hall sensor is rather easy to replace, and is covered by a seven year part warranty (in the US). Take the back cover off. Take the big nut off and remove the motor rotor. Remove the bolts holding the motor windings. Remove the electric plug on the sensor and unclip it from the motor winding. Snap new sensor on and reassemble. Usually takes under a half hour. On a difficulty scale of 1 - 10, it might rate a 4. This should be a Fix-Ya for your machine, and at basically no cost!
In the US, find a service provider using your zip code at http://us.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp or call LG at 800-243-0000

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.
The error code F28 means one or both of these parts are bad.
Motor Control Unit (8540135)
Microcomputer Machine Control Unit (8540788)
It would be a good idea to order both, as both components have been problematic for
error code F28

Can't figure out how to solve my problem... Replaced the two broken shock absorbers and the F28 error message went away. So, it seems that two broken shock absorbers on the same side of the machine will cause an F28 error. Didn't have to bother with the CCU or MCU. I do suggest that you shop online with the correct part number as it will probably much cheaper.
