My Samsung smart tv & my dvd/bluray player recorder I bought at same time. Haven't had blurays til now & wont play at all. Rental ones did now I've bought my own & they don't play! Not tech minded.HELP

Each DVD player is assigned a code for the region in which it's sold. For example USA/Canada are Region 1 players. DVD players will refuse to play discs not coded for its specific region. In effect, this means that a DVD purchased in one country is normally unreadable on a DVD player bought in another region.

If your rental DVDs work in the player then there is nothing wrong with your DVD player. If you have purchased DVDs that do not work the problem is with the DVDs you have, not with the DVD player.

My Samsung BD-P1600 will play a SD disc but the rental Bluray discs won't play. Is there any way to reset the player? THX.

It is not the player you need to reset, it is the rental DVD's. They are encrypted with a code to limit the amount of time they can be watched, thereby protecting them from being stolen or not returned. Send them back to the rental company and rent the same movies again. That is your only solution. Your player will play whatever is put into it. I hope this helps.

My Samsung 1500 player will play dvds fine but on blu rays it will play for a while then just stop or otherwise say the disc is not playable even though the disc has been played before with no issue and I...

Standard DVDSs are read by a red laser while blue ray DVDs are read by a blue laser (hence the name). The blue laser diode is likely to be faulty and therefore standard dvds work but blue ray dvds do not. This is not an easily obtainable or replaceable part.

PS3 froze while playing a BD, then it would not rcognize anything

Hi there,
Most PS3 systems end up doing this due to an over heating of the laser lens. Let me explain: The laser lens in the PS3 is made to read mainly Blue Ray games. The movies need to be read faster than the game discs which causes it to work harder thus the problem arising.
Sometimes, your lucky enough for this to only be a dirty lens problem due to rental movies which are most of the time, if not always, dirty.
Have you tried a lens cleaner kit?
This is the CD-ROM with a small brush on it to clean your laser lens head.
This problem has happened to me in the past and this solved the problem.
It is a common problem for any lens reading console.

I have a Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-Ray Disc Player that will not play Blu-Ray discs rented from BlockBusters in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. To Date, of all my 100 regular DVD, and approximately 25 owned Blu-Ray...

BD-P1000 Update Solution
The solution that worked for me: I went to www.samsung.com/ca and downloaded the Samsung BD-P1000 player's firmware update to my desktop. When opened, I was directed to"burn" a DVD on my computer. I then inserted the new DVD in my Blu-Ray player. The player automatically checked and confirmed player model number and registration and uploaded information from the DVD and the update was complete. The BD-P1000 then flawlessly played the rented Blu-Ray disc of "The Scorpion King".
Thank You Samsung!

Cant get hdmi for ps3 to work on my jvc hd 52g887

Had same problem with Panasonic PT60LC14 tv when connecting by HDMI cord to my PS3 and a blue ray disc was playing. First, read your tv manual to see what video inputs it supports . Then read the PS3 online manual (section on "video output settings").

For me I found out that my tv only supported 1080i (along with 480i/p, 780p) and the ps3 manual says blue ray outputs 1080p, so my blue ray discs will not play on my tv according to the PS3 manual. PS3 manual says to restart the ps3 (power off, then power on and HOLD for 5 seconds) - then the standard video output settings should be reset. Hopefully the ps3 menu will pop up at least. I haven't tried this yet but if it doesn't work, i'll may try to reset PS3 video out settings manually first using another tv that works with it ..

I have three blue- ray disc which will not play. Have return these disc several times to merchant for exchnage with no success.

Your firmware seems to be an older version. Since the discs that you are nameing are asking for Blu-Ray 1.2 support.
Samsung has provided updated firmware to support these discs. Follow the instructions on the link.
