See page 11 of the manual for detailed instructions on HOW TO SELECT POWER AND COOK TIME. Basically you just press the POWER LEVEL button once, then enter a cooking time using the number keypad (3 0 for 30 seconds), then press START.

I apologize for the confusion Richard, I just read your additional comments.
