Hello,

The reason the fill tube is freezing is because the tube that connects to it and connects to the water inlet valve is seeping water slowly. It's just enough water to trickle into that tube at the top and since its so cold that little trickle freezes, then the next trickle freezes and so on and so on. After enough small drops of water freeze the entire tube is frozen. To stop that replace the water inlet valve the small diameter tube connects to. The part number for that is 67003753 you could purchase it at your local applianve parts store. Or online at

SOURCE: ice maker tube freezing up

  • change the water valve on the back of the machine.
  •  the water valve is slowly leaking water up to the icemaker where it freezes and builds up ice, blocking the water flow.

SOURCE: How can I find the water valve in the ice maker?

Trace the water line on the back of the unit where it goes into the freezer compartment. It chould be a 1/4" plastic line. The water valve is usually at the bottom of the unit. Make sure you turn off the water if you plan to work on it.

SOURCE: WATER FREEZING IN ICE MAKER

check 2 things. Make sure the fill tube is going downwards to the cup inside. The second thing is when the valve shuts off make sure it closes right away. If it doesnt then replace the valve.

all is normal with the defrost heater getting red hot.

as far as the inlet tube freezing, you most likely need a new water inlet valve. it may not be closing all the way and water is slowly dripping into the icemaker and freezing up right away. a new valve should fix your issue. here is the part that you need. http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-TFH27PRSA-%3d%3di1032629&PartID=1032629

Ice Maker WR30X0327 Freezing Over I have an

We have extremely hard water in the East Mountains of NM. Our refrigerator Ice Makers only lasted about a year before the Calcium from the underground Calcium just killed them. I solved the problem by buying, from ebay, a small restaurant ice-maker. I Always fill it with filtered water, and it has been chugging away for years. Our water tested Harder than an Hot-tub maker had ever seen, even after going through our old, Sears, water-filter. Ergo - how hard is your water? Could that be the problem. Just a thought.

Ice maker fill tube freezing

There is a possibility that the water valve isn't closing completely leaving just enough space for a drop or two of water to make its way and freeze in the tube, but more than likely the fill tube is a plastic one and little divots have formed retaining water and freezing up. These divots may not even be visible to the ***** eye. A good solution is to switch to a rubber fill tube which is less likely to have this problem.

My freezer is not freezing anymore please help as can not afford a new one ..thank you

Hi,
Follow the steps mentioned below to solve the problem:
First remove the ice bin and look inside the mold of the ice maker to see if it is full of ice. If the ice sensing arm is down ( on position) and the ice maker is full of ice, there is a failure inside the ice maker and the ice maker should be replaced.
If there is no ice in the ice maker, look at the fill tube on the rear of the ice maker. If the fill tube is frozen up the ice maker can't fill.
You can defrost the fill tube with a hair dryer.
The water valve on the rear of the refrigerator supplies water to the water dispenser and the ice maker. Since the water dispenser is working, the only line that could be blocked runs up the back of the cabinet and attaches to the fill tube for the ice maker. The water valve could be bad and not sending water to the ice maker.
If the fill tube freezes again you should replace the water valve.
Hope this helps.

Tube feeding ice maker comes off

Good day,
Common problem. Remove ice maker, and make sure tube fits all the way to the rear and seats properly.
Then reinstall ice maker and telescope front part of file tube until it fits into ice ice maker properly. (retaining clip in place).
For the cost, a new fill tube makes sense. Also.........
If the water valve leaks slightly after shutting off during a fill cycle, a plug of ice will build up inside the the fill tube, pushing it off on the next fill cycle. Requires installing a new water valve.

The water filling the ice maker freezes in the filling tube.

You can thaw the frozen water with a hair dryer but to stop this from happening the water control valve may be the reason for this to happen. When the ice maker calls for water to refill it is timed. If the water control valve located on the rear of your refrigerator is not closing all the way for the ice maker side it causes the water to freeze in the tube because it slowly flow to the ice make just enough to seal the fill tube.
Thanks and let me know what you find, Sea Breeze

If the fill tube gets choked up with ice, (Figure S-4) it usually means that the water fill solenoid valve is leaking. The valve is not closing properly and is dribbling water. If the leakage is slow enough, water may freeze in the fill tube. Over time it will freeze the tube completely shut.

If the leakage is slow enough, water may freeze in the fill tube. Over time it will freeze the tube completely shut. or it could be that the ice maker is not level.
