Good day,
Common problem. Remove ice maker, and make sure tube fits all the way to the rear and seats properly.
Then reinstall ice maker and telescope front part of file tube until it fits into ice ice maker properly. (retaining clip in place).
For the cost, a new fill tube makes sense. Also.........
If the water valve leaks slightly after shutting off during a fill cycle, a plug of ice will build up inside the the fill tube, pushing it off on the next fill cycle. Requires installing a new water valve.

The water tube in my GE (side by side refrig) ice maker keeps freezing. When the ice tray does not get the water, it calls for more. the water ends up spraying all over the inside and freezing because...

Your drain tube must be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little air pressure will usually clear it out. Flush it out with hot water and clorox may help. Make sure it drains quick enough. The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer

My freezer is not freezing anymore please help as can not afford a new one ..thank you

Hi,
Follow the steps mentioned below to solve the problem:
First remove the ice bin and look inside the mold of the ice maker to see if it is full of ice. If the ice sensing arm is down ( on position) and the ice maker is full of ice, there is a failure inside the ice maker and the ice maker should be replaced.
If there is no ice in the ice maker, look at the fill tube on the rear of the ice maker. If the fill tube is frozen up the ice maker can't fill.
You can defrost the fill tube with a hair dryer.
The water valve on the rear of the refrigerator supplies water to the water dispenser and the ice maker. Since the water dispenser is working, the only line that could be blocked runs up the back of the cabinet and attaches to the fill tube for the ice maker. The water valve could be bad and not sending water to the ice maker.
If the fill tube freezes again you should replace the water valve.
Hope this helps.

The tube feeding the ice making machine is iced up? What is the solution?

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Pipe that feeds ice maker is broken. How do I repair and where do

Check the water valve, it might be leaking water slowly into the icemaker tube. Turn off icemaker. Disconnect .25" tubing from the icemaker fill tube in the back of the refrigerator. shake some water off the .25" tubing, mark the current water level on the tubing, then leave it for 5 min or so, and check it again. If the level has risen - replace the water valve. If the level is the same - replace the fill tube, it may have some sediment buildup, which causes the water drops to remain in the tube after the icemaker fillup.

Good luck.

Leaking water in icemaker. water from icemaker leaks into freezer and freezes on freezer wall

If you are sure that it's coming from the ice maker I believe that you possibly have a leaking water control valve on the side for the ice maker on the rear of refrigerator near floor there is a dual water valve control. Many times when this happens the water will freeze in the fill tube that fills the ice maker in the rear of freezer. You can defrost the frozen water in the fill tube with a hair dryer but that will not stop the problem from coming back. When that happens water tends to at times go everywhere but the ice maker. You can test the water control valve several ways. By unplugging the side to the ice maker and if water continues to flow slowly to the ice maker then the dual water control valve will need replaced, Sea Breeze

Maytag Icemaker freezing up

Possibly a bad valve but more likely not enough water coming to the unit, follow the water line from the back of the unit to where it hooks to the pipes there is usually a little saddle valve there, try closing it all the way and then open it back up check the water through the door and see if the pressure doesn't improve.
You can also remove the Ice maker clear out the fill tube and sit a cup under the end of it for a day or two if you get water in the cup and Ice in the tube you probably have a solenoid valve that isn't closing completely.

My ice maker overflows

If the fill tube gets choked up with ice, it usually means that the water fill solenoid valve is leaking. The valve is not closing properly and is dribbling water. If the leakage is slow enough, water may freeze in the fill tube. Over time it will freeze the tube completely shut. or it could be that the ice maker is not level.

Ice Maker won't work

Hello,

If your trying to save a service call you have your work cut out for you. The ice maker is a unit that sits by itself attached to the wall or part of the freezer wall.

There are many reasons why you do not get ice and I will list them.

1- Temp of freezer got too cold and has frozen the pipe that feeds the water to fill the icemaker.
check to see if the icemaker has any ice in the area that fills and makes the cubes.
If the pipe is clogged, very gently put a small tipped screw driver in the fill hose that sites over the ice making row in the ice maker. Be careful you do not push your screwdriver out the back of the refer.
Check to see the freezer temp is not too cold and is freezing that pipe. 0-3 degrees F is good.

2.- check to make sure your water feeding the fridge is on. There is an on off valve to allow the water to feed the icemaker when it needs to fill. This could be bad. there are reset proceedures for the fridge, but unplugging the entire frige for 1 minute and plugging it back in you can listen for the the valve to come on and see if it fills the ice maker resevoir.

3. If it fills and freezes the ice resevoir, then the sensor in the ice tray does not sense the frozen ice and will not cycle and kick cubes. At this point, unless you are super tech, you will need to replace the entire icemaker unit.

Hope this helps.

WATER RUNS DOWN FREEZER WALL

SRCTE,  Are you certain that you installed a NEW water valve?  To isolate the problem between the ice maker and the water valve.  Remove the ice maker from the refrigerator.  Inspect the water fill tube for being stopped up with solid ice.  If so, clear the solid ice with a hair dryer blowing hot air into the end of the water fill tube.  Insert a long screw driver into the end of the water fill tube to break loose any remaining solid ice up in the tube.  Inspect with a flash lite to verify the water fill tube is clear and open.  Leave the ice maker out of the refrigerator overnite and operate the refrigerator as normally used.  After 6-8 hours, open the freezer door and inspect the end of the water fill tube; if the water fill tube is clear of solid ice then you have a bad ice maker which must be replaced.  If on the other hand the water fill tube has ice protruding from the water fill tube then the water valve is defected and must be replaced again.  If the water valve is replaced you may desire to install an external in line water filter. Hope this helps you.  Henry
