Ice Maker WR30X0327 Freezing Over I have an unusual problem with this ice maker. The incoming fill tube passes into a white plastic compartment on the back of the ice maker. Water flows into this compartment and from there the water drains out into the ice maker tray. When making lots of ice this white compartment somehow freezes over and blocks the incoming water from draining into the ice maker. On the next cycle the incoming water then flows over the top of the compartment into the freezer below and makes quite a frozen mess. I take out the ice maker and remove the ice block from the white compartment and everything is fine again for a while, then it happens again. The fill tube does not freeze unless I don't catch the problem in time, at which point the ice build-up blocks the fill tube and then it also will freeze solid. Since the ice maker itself makes cubes fine when the white compartment isn't frozen over, I don't see how I can fault the ice maker unless there's something happening I don't understand. The temperature setting of the freezer is above the mid-point on the control so I don't think the temperature of the freezer is too low. Has anyone experienced this problem and solved it?
Have you tried insulating the fill tube ?

We have extremely hard water in the East Mountains of NM. Our refrigerator Ice Makers only lasted about a year before the Calcium from the underground Calcium just killed them. I solved the problem by buying, from ebay, a small restaurant ice-maker. I Always fill it with filtered water, and it has been chugging away for years. Our water tested Harder than an Hot-tub maker had ever seen, even after going through our old, Sears, water-filter. Ergo - how hard is your water? Could that be the problem. Just a thought.

Tube sometimes freezes because of minerals in it hold one droplet at a time until buildup freezes solid. Replace tube first. Water valve allowing some droplets through can also cause this. Tube first-less expensive.

remove cube tray from ice maker. clean with limeaway adn rinse. Spray with a light coating of PAM cooking spray. wipe dry and reinstall. be careful not to damage the sensor ( in center of tray)
