How do I connect a turntable to a marantz sr7002? I've tried various analog inputs but I only get sound out of one speaker, not the stereo output I'd expect.

If your turntable has an stereo output through it RCA output connector make sure that the RCA cord you are using is new means there is no cut of wires inside it .check the continuity by connecting the RCA cord to the auxiliary input of your reciever then touch the plug with your hand.you should hear a loud humming audio left and right following which plug you are touching.it means the cord is good.if only one channel you hear then replace the cord.good luck..

Looking for a list of receivers will run 901 Series 4 speakers with external equalizer for home theater use

The key to running the Bose 901s is to have the equalizer inserted into the tape monitor loop. Most 'old school' stereo receivers have tape monitor inputs. On an AV receiver, the VCR or CD analog inputs/outputs could be used but you will be limiting your listening to stereo sources. Please be aware that some AV receivers will not allow you to select different audio and video sources. The Marantz NR15xx, SRx004 receivers are pretty flexible, and allow you to pair up a component audio input with an HDMI (or other) video input. (No surround sound in this type of setup...)

I want to connect an iPod to my Marantz SR 5600, what type of cord do I need?

You need a jack-2cinch (differen name is jack to 2 RCA) cable. Jack goes to your iPod's phones output, cinch/RCA to amplifier (connect it to CD or DVD analog section at the back). While playing set volume to 50% to avoid distorted sound. This way you can connect any MP3 player to your amplifier.

How to hook up a turntable to a pioneer vsx-1019

receivers with a PHONO input can connect a turntable easily by just connecting the white and red stereo audio cables from the turntable to the phono inputs on the receiver. receivers without a PHONO input can still connect a turntable by using a phono-preamp whose output can connect to any analog stereo input on the receiver like CD or AUX. Multi room will not play any digital input, just analog. I.e. Video 1 when analog connection plays in multi room, but optical 1, when set as input for vid 1 will not play in multi; works fine in main...

I have a Marantz 7.1 AV receiver (sr5500) and I run a 5.1 set up for home theatre and use the 2 extra channels to run a pair of outdoor stereo speakers... When I first set it up I also found I could not get a digital signal output, only analog, after reading the manual(!) I discovered that it can only output an analog signal...so I have used the phono outputs on my blu-ray player into the CD input of the AV amp and play CDs outside through this and it also outputs the optical digital signal into the AV amp through the DVD input...my iPod also plays through a dock and it's analog output to the speakers outside through another (CD-R) anolog input on the amp... Hope this helps

Do have an idiots guide as to how to wire up the SR-4200 to a TV

I will interperate this as:
"So you want to play sound through your Marantz SR-4200?"

You need to clarify what sort of system setup you have, however i will put down a few ways to wire this up to your TV.

If you have a Set-top-box that gets the TV Channels, that is where the sound comes from. If you have a TV that plugs straight into the wall, you will have to get the sound from the TV. Grab a RCA Stereo cable - (White and Red heads, if you don't know what they look like, Google it).

If you are unclear about this, i have tried to make a diagram down the bottom to explain how this is to work. What you will do is Take the sound from the Set-Top-Box or TV and reroute it into your fantastic Marantz SR-4200.

1. Plug Red Plug into the the Red Slot, and White into the White on the back of your set-top-box or TV Out (if you get it around the wrong way, the speakers will be reversed.)

2. Plug the other end of the cable into the back of your Marantz SR-4200 in the TAPE input or VHS input as they are analog signal inputs. Turn on Marantz SR-4200 and turn it onto Tape or Vhs (depending on where you plugged it in).

[Set-Top-Box or TV out] >-------> into >------> [Marantz SR-4200]

If you still don't get it, then try searching You-Tube for a guide "Plug Tv into Stereo". I myself couldn't turn up anything useful

Will the Marantz SR5004 work with the 901?

By itself, yes, in stereo for stereo analog source material only.

There's good news and bad news for the multichannel hopes you must be harboring.

The bad news is that a multichannel receiver with Bose 901's will only sound right in STEREO on stereo analog material. For one thing, the other speakers around the room are not designed to receive its Active Equalization (unless they, too, are 901's of the same version) and for another, if you engage your Tape Monitor you will not be able to play digital sources. Tape Monitor is for analog stereo material only and on most (all?) AV receivers it disables any digital inputs.

The good news. I have a 7.1 setup similar to what I think you're trying to do and it works great!

A separate stereo amp for the 901's was my solution. I run a Carver AV-406 (5-channel amp) for my 901's in Front, 2 Subwoofers and the Rear Surround channel, with the Active EQ between the receiver Front L&R Outputs and the 901's amp channels. My receiver controls everything and just drives the Center and Surround speakers. You could get by with just a stereo amp for the 901's. A Carver M-200 is a good efficient amplifier that would have you cooking just fine (2x100W). Just draw the Front L and R analog pre-out from the Marantz to the Bose Active Equalizer then to the new amp. Adjust your speaker levels and enjoy.

I was wondering what the extra wire attcahed to the audio cords it looks like a speaker wire

the bare stripped wire is for grounding the turntable to the receiver to eliminate any hum sound. If after connecting both phono plugs, you only get sound from one channel on the turntable but sound plays out of both channels on all other inputs then replace the phono plugs as this is the most likely problem.

Marantz sr8002

I wrote this for a different receiver, but if you account for minor differences to your receiver this will work just fine.

There's good news and bad news. The bad news you need a separate amp because a multichannel receiver with Bose 901's attached as recommended for a standard stereo receiver will only sound right in STEREO on stereo analog material. The other speakers around the room are not designed to receive its Active Equalization and if you engage your Tape Monitor you will NOT BE ABLE TO HEAR DIGITAL sources at all. Tape Monitor is for analog stereo material only and on modern AV receivers it disables any digital inputs so you really can't use the Tape Monitor circuit or attached devices for modern digital sources. However, you can still employ the various DSP options to spread 2-channel analog source material around the room. I do.

The good news. I have a setup similar to what you want to do and it works great! With one caveat - My receiver actually has 5.1 analog Outputs so I can drive up to 6 external amplifiers if I want to (I drive 4). IF yours does NOT (*) we have to be creative in extracting the front two channels from your multi-channel receiver. The obvious alternative place would be at one of the few OUTputs on the back, assuming you have one free to use.

* I can't find your exact manual so I have to extrapolate features.

I see on the SR>6003< there are Pre Audio OUTS so I'm betting your receiver does, too.

Run it with the Active EQ between the receiver Front L&R Pre-Outputs ** and the 901's amp channels.

** Front Pre Out; (or VCR or Tape Out if you don't have Pre Outs) >>> Bose EQ Amplifer IN, then
Bose EQ Amplier OUT >>> new amplifier IN.

Attach the 901's to the new amp, set its volume to Max and run through your receivers speaker level setup.

*** If you use a Tape or VCR Out you will NOT be able to SELECT the source you use for the 901 Pre-Outs for listening, or else the 901's will not get any sound sent their way. DO NOT USE the monitor switch for that source.
