I have no microphone when skyping

When you move your cursor to the lower part of the skype (picture) screen/frame, you'll see icons showing up ... "camera", "microphone" "plus sign" & (red) phone handle.

If you see a slash across the "microphone" icon, it means you're on mute. Just move your cursor to that icon and click on it to toggle it (out of mute)

Asus epc 1015pn will the unmute the microphone on skype

Hi,

I'm guessing the issue is that Skype mutes your microphone? It is probably because of the volume settings in Skype. Guessing you have the latest Skype, go to Tools > Options > Audio Settings, and uncheck "Automatically adjust microphone settings".

How do I unmute my microphone on skype?

Solution for Skype 5.0:
In the upper right of the window during a Skype call, there should be an icon of a microphone with a slash through it. When it is highlighted in red, this means that your microphone is muted. Make sure the icon is white to be unmuted (pictures below).

Another problem could be which microphone you have selected in your Preferences. Go to Skype->Preferences... and click on the Audio/Video tab. There should be a drop down menu labeled "Microphone:"; make sure the correct microphone is chosen.

I downloaded skype on my HP Pavilion to talk to my daughter at college. We can see each other & I can hear her, but she can't hear me. I don't know how to get my internal microphones to work. Please...

You can try this, it might be the problem. The microphone is by default, muted. The Skype program "should" un-mute it, but sometimes the notebooks mic is not fully compliant. So, to manually un-mute the microphone, go into the volume control panel by double clicking the speaker icon in the system tray. If the microphone section is not displayed toward the right, you'll have to activate it in the Options|Properties menu item. Put a check mark in the box beside microphone. Remove the check mark in the mute box under microphone.

I have a Satellite M35X-S114 that has a mic problem. I was using Skype with no problem and then it just stopped working. I hear through the speakers and headset but no mic. I also tried a new headset with...

Sometimes programs like Skype will lose the Mic settings and chose another input channel. Check your operating system's audio settings under something similar to "Recording" and see if microphone is checkboxed and turned up. Also, make sure it is not muted on Skype and/or the operating system.

If you have Windows XP, for example, look for the audio settings icon (little speaker) just left of clock area. Open and go to "options". Choose "properties" then "Recording". Look that your microphone is "Selected" with a checkbox and is turned up. To hear yourself during this, you will need to go back and choose "Playback" instead of "Recording" and de-select "mute" (if checked) for microphone and turn it up to see if you hear yourself talking over the speakers/headphones.

Also, check the Skype settings for microphone and that Skype has the correct sound device selected for input - being your microphone and not another device.

Also make sure that there is not a manual, physical volume adjustment for the microphone on the laptop case itself. Could even be a mute button.

Camera works but skype tells me the microphone is muted.

Go to Tools | Options | Audio Settings which is how the audio and microphone settings are adjusted in Skype.

Your microphone might be muted in the Windows multimedia sound control panel - if you double-click on the speaker in the Windows taskbar you will get the mixer control panel - select Recording devices if the Microphone is not shown, make sure the MUTE checkbox is clear.
