Go gear mp3 it keeps coming up file not formatted

I have just bought a gogear mps player and have tried to download my music on to it.It shows up on the mp3 player screen but wont play anything , it comes up file not formatted.

The solution above is correct. Although Phillips says that the Gogear is compatible with WMA files, we found the same problem. So you need to either download a converter and convert your music files to MP3, or as we did, delete your songs and load them on again as MP3.

Make sure the songs you downloaded are not DRM-protected. If yes, you can't play them without the specified music player. If you want to remove the DRM from downloaded music, then you can seek help from DRM removal software. Here I found a post including some recommendations for help: Best Free DRM Removal Software

My mp3 player won't let me play music and keeps on coming up with "this file format is not surported"

  • Be sure the music is one of the following formats, otherwise it will not play on your GoGear SA6045 MP3 player

  • Supported digital audio standards
  • MP3, WAV, WMA,ADPCM
  • You can download a free format converter at this website: http://www.formatoz.com/
  • Good Luck, I hope this helps

Mp3 showing file format not supported

The GoGear is very particular about which file formats it will accept. If you only download files in mp3 format, from a music service such as eMusic, you will never have any problems. If you download WMA's, the WMA may not have the right license type, and you will get exactly the error message that you are describing. The GoGear is not compatible with iTunes at all.

Download only files in mp3 format, and you will solve your problem.

    Philips GoGear SA3245/37

Those WMA's have a particular DRM-encryption system that the player does not recognize - they have play rights, but no real transfer rights. Convert the files to Mp3 format using Media Monkey and you will be fine.

    Wont play music

The songs are in the wrong format - they are probably DRM-encrypted WMA files that you are trying to transfer, and the license on those files are wrong; they are either "fixed-term" or lack "transfer rights"

To resolve, either upgrade your music svc subscription, or convert the songs to Mps format

    MP3 Philips GoGear HDD1630/17

Omg, none of the b*%#&#@ in costumer support was able to help me out and I know it could be frustrating. Here Is a sloution took me five hours to come up with it finally found it if you are having this problem you could not probably restore factory settings from your go gear. But after doing what I tell you this is the way your gogear is going to be back to Normal.
1st. Connect your gogear to the computer with usb cable.
2nd. Don't enter windows media player or device manager or anything to that has to do with the go gear.
3rd. Go to thisweb page (http://www.usasupport.philips.com/consumer/productDocuments.html?ProductCode=HDD6330/17&subCat=HDD_AUDIO_JUKEBOX_SU_us_CONSUMER) Scroll down on the page and download (Firmware Upgrade Software).
4rd. Save the files to your documents they are zip files so unzip them and save them to your documents.
5th. Open your gogear on "my computer"(folder).
6th.Take the two files you saved on your documents they should be(DeviceDiversity) and (FWImage.ebn) and drag them to the folder named "Data" in your philips go gear.
7th. Disconnect the gogear(mp3) it should turn back of. If not turn it back on manually.
8th. In your gogear(mp3) go to "settings" then scroll down to "Factory Settings" and "Restore Factory Settings"
9th. Let the demo do it's magic.
10th. After 10 minutes get off the demo by pressing the off switch.
11th. Reconect the gogear(mp3) and go to "My Computer" right click the philips gogear and left click on Format. Let it Format, when done click (ok).
12th. Disconnect the gogear after you are done formating.
13th. Reconect gogear and then synchronise your music with windows media player.
14th. When done sychronising !ENJOY YOUR MUSIC!

This took me a long time to find out whope it works for you.
The Asswholes in costumer service are not profesionals don't know shit and they would wana charge you $40 to get this fixed plus shipping and handling. hope my article helps you Bye.;-)
