You will need to reformat the GoGear in Windows Media Player, but do a firmware upgrade first - open the Philips Device Manager and click on the Update tab. Then click the update button. After the firmware upgrade is done, open windows Media Player.
REFORMAT FOR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER - Erases Everything: Connect your GoGear to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Philips Go Gear SAXXX" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything, and make your player properly read in Windows Media Player.

You will need to first load the program for down loadding to the ipod. usually the cd comes along with the device, if not try and get the free download from the philips site. the compression required for the mp3 is required for downloading. I hope you could get this helpful

DRM is so that an MP3 cannot be copied. It is Digital Rights Management, basically so that you can only use it with systems, like your player, that make sure it isn't stolen. It is used very little these days since Apple took DRM off of iTunes files, but it is quite annoying and is just that, copy protection.

my philips turns on for a while until i turn it off but then when i try to turn it back on later it will stay a black screen...or it will turn it's self off...full battery...not locked...idfk what is wrong with it....

some how one of the files that the go gear needs to start has been currupted... same thing happend with mine.i had to get a new one.

Hi Ayesha. Resetting the device should be able to fix minor problem with the unit. Since resetting the device had no effect, the problem you might encountering there is more of firmware problem. Try to reinstall/upgrade the firmware of your device. Philips has software that is called SONGBIRD. I think you have that one in the cd when you purchased the program You may download the progra,m by clicking here. Below is the procedure on how to perform the uprgade:Download and install the Phillips Songbird program. Launch the Phillips Songbird software. Connect the Phillips GoGear MP3 player to your computer using the supplied USB cable. Click the icon of your GoGear MP3 player on the left side of the Songbird interface. Click the "Tools" tab. Click the "Check for updated firmware" button. If a new update is available for your device, it will be downloaded and applied. Do not disconnect the GoGear MP3 player until the Songbird program tells you that the installation is complete.Hope this helps.. Windows Media Player 11 ruins this player. Uninstall Windows Media Player 11, and roll back to Windows Media Player 10. Then use version 10 to sync songs to your device.

The headphone socket in the GoGear is faulty. If you can hear sounds from both ear pieces when you wriggle the headphone plug in the GoGear, then the headphone socket in the GoGear is faulty. This fault can be easily fixed by removing the circuit board in the GoGear and resoldering the headphone socket to the circuit. You need a very fine tipped temperature soldering iron to do this job.

download the driver programs from the cd on to your computer then you shald be able to drag and drop from one to the other and visa versa

Philips GoGear Firmware Upgrade
You need to get the latest firmware upgrade from the Philips website:
1. Go to www.philips.com/support
2. Enter your country/language
3. Enter your model # SA6045 or whatever
4. Click on the link for your exact model # (the one w/o the "B" in it)
5. Click on "Software & Drivers"
6. Download the updated "Device/Firmware Manager"
7. Once installed, open the Philips Device Manager
8. Click on the "Update" tab, then the "Update" button (with your mp3 player connected to the computer, of course)
9. Your Mp3 players firmware will update automatically
If you do not have the latest version of the Philips Device Manager installed (the latest is the version from the Philips website), then clicking the "Update" button will give you a false positive saying "The firmware on your device is already up to date."

Recovery Mode for Philips' GoGear
Disconnect the player from the PC, and make sure the mp3 player is turned off. Hold in the volume + button on the mp3 player, and reconnect the player to your pc while holding in the volume + button. Continue holding the volume + for 10-15 seconds until a "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up. It should recover your device if there isn't anything internally wrong with the player. Warning: this procedure will result in your songs being erased off the player, so they will have to be reloaded.

trying to play my gigaware mp3 player 4 gb and it says drm license not available i need help

Thats becausethe tunes that you download are probably Itunes, and Itunes has a DRM on all movies/music/music videos.
What that means is the music will only work when they are in Itunes or are on other Apple products,like Ipad,Ipod,etc.
You will need to convert those songs from ACC to MP3 or WMA before they will play on your MP3 player.
