I have windows 7 and SMC EZ Connect G SMC2862W-g and i installed driver. It worked but now it can't connect any connection. In XP it worked fine. Is there compatible driver?

update the wireless drivers for your network card. also check the spec sheet for your wireless card and make sure it's compatable with your OS and system.

Damaged usb port? See if contacts are bent. Bad wifi adapter is possible. Try another wireless device in the port (mouse, keybd) to see if port is okay. Some adapters require that you install software before using, but this should not cause reboots.

Its possible that you dont have the Driver installed and is you do then make sure you have the latest drivers installed. You need to install the driver disk that came with the USB adapter. Your PC correctly pointed out that the internal WI-FI adapter is not working but the USB adapter should be showing on the taskbar of the driver is installed correctly.

Most hardware like an Network Adaptor you install the software CD 1st. Then plug in the hardware.

Then if you configured wireless (wifi, 802.11) settings on your SMC - you should fine the network NAME when you try to connect. You will be asked for the security key for WEP or WPA or WPA2 that you used in the SMC.

SMC should... then assign IP Settings automatically. If the SMC has Internet, you should have Internet.

If that doesn't work go to SMC.com click the support tab and follow the instructions.

It shows that your wireless router and wireless adapters are both working. One thing to try is changing your wireless channel. Since you are already using 11, try maybe 1 or 9. Check if your SMC adapter will pick up the wireless signal.

By the way, how far is your computer (using the SMC adapter) to your wireless router?
