Reset button
Sometimes there is only a LITTLE hole in the back - use a tooth pick to push in the hole. Sometimes just unplugging for a couple of minutes helps

What's the defauit password
Most times the default password is admin or left blank. Read your manual to find out for sure.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "SMC Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Look for Manuals. According to your manual the default password is: smcadmin (All small letters)Below is a link to your manual.http://www.smc.com/files/AP/qig_WBR14-G2.pdf

Hi, how to reset smcwbr14-g2
Hi ,
I got your issue, Inorder to reset the username and password to the default setting the only way is to reset the router , look on the router you will have a pin hole button, push that reset button for 10 -20 sec. Then you can login to the router using username 'smcadmin', password - 'admin' or 'blank'.

Probeer:

Well, once reset you will need to login to the interface and resetup all the connection information. You can do that from the WEB interface just logon and reset. No special software (except a web browser) is needed.
I think the SMC default address is http://192.168.2.1 just log on and set it up. Resetting just restores the factory defaults, it does not erase the system.

Rarely does a router need software on a computer. Even the linksys that have a big sticker USE CD FIRST -- its only there for those who don't understand routers!

I use Wireless router Model:
We have used gtalk with static ip number. Sounds more like the port it uses isn't open. It could be that they block the port at your office. When using static ip numbers the gateway must be the number of the router in order for it to get out to the internet.

My smcwbr14-g2
Hi Remaku,

First type 192.168.0.1 into the internet url box. That's the local IP address of the router. It should take you to a router settings screen and prompt you for a username and address.
If it doesn't, then you have to reset the router, by pressing the reset button. The reset button is inside a small hole on the back of the router. You need something sharp like a paper clip, to press it in, and hold for 15 seconds.

Then wait for about a minute for all the lights to stop flashing and remain lit.
If you still cannot connect to the router now, then your network device on your PC is not configured properly, or you may have to go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab, and make sure it is set to 'Never Dial a Connection'.

My router needs reset every so often though, so that is probably the issue. Let me know how you get on..

Lost connection over wired LAN - wireless OK
A common fix is to re-set the modem. Just unplug the power to the modem for 30 seconds, then re-connect it. You could also bypass the router momentarily to see if the modem is working. Just connect one of the computers directly to the modem to verify connectivity. Your control panel should also have a utility to renew the IP address.

How to solve USB device not recognized ?
different USB port. There are usually 3 or 4 of them. If you can, format the USB drive (if you have nothing on it or already have copies of what is on it). It will take 10 seconds, but will wipe all data. It should be recognized then.
