Hi there! I got Archos 5 with me and when I try to open, it kind of stuck on the calibration screen, and no response can be sent by touching the screen. I wonder to ask you if you can provide some repair, i know it is difficult at this stage, can you tell me about charges. Thanks Regards Syed

SOURCE: Stuck on the ARCHOS Screen and it won't do any thing

A) Download the firmware from Archos and save it to your desktop (Make sure the file name on the desktop hasn't changed from the original download file name)

B) The Archos 705:
1- Connect the unit to its power source.
2- Start the unit in recovery mode: Press the TV button first then the power on/off and keep pressing TV button (do not release it)
3- The recovery mode will start (the screen that asks for repair or format etc…)
4- Select "Repair" by scrolling up and down with the TV Button (it is all explained to move through the menu at the top of the Archos screen) (Do not press "Format" at any time)
5- Now that you are on "Repair" select it to validate your selection
6- The unit will go to "Plug the unit etc…" plug it with the USB cable to the computer
8- Wait until Pc should recognizes your Archos (around 5 seconds)

C) Computer
1- From your computer select the firmware file you downloaded from the net and put it in your Archos (in the root folder, nowhere else, where it has the folders, music, videos, pictures etc… as a file)

D) On the Archos 705:
1- Select "Ok" on the Archos (on & off button) shortly to select and confirm the file is now on the Archos
2- you are done! The Archos 5 or 7 should now read through the file you have transferred and repair the system
3- DO NOT DISCONNECT the power cable until the process is finished
4- When done safely disconnect (as you usually do, for Mac trash the letter of the Archos to the bin or for PC's: right click the green icon bottom right of the screen for xp & vista)
5- Press on/off button to reboot

Your unit should restart with a fresh repaired, updated system like day one.

SOURCE: Just got Archos 5 goes into error 101...

Hi there, these instructions are for the archos 705 but they are the same for the 605.

no it doesn't work. i have done everything reset , hold the volume and on and off buttons.. don't recognize on my computer stays on Entertainment your way! any better solution please

SOURCE: there is a white screen

connect your archos on pc then trobleshoot your archos then after its over it will for dc in then put it into charge and the problem is solve

How do i reset my archos tablet?

First try to hold down the on/off button for about 15 seconds. If that does not work there is a hardware reset on the bottom of the device that can be accessed with a paperclip which will reset it.

To re-calibrate, g
o to settings>phone settings>calibrate

The calibrate screen pops up. Follow the screen, and with your stylus click exactly on the middle of the spots it tells you to. It will ask for 2-5 times until it is able to detect your response time. Then, save the changes.

My touch calibration is frozen want let me close the task

Hi, unfortunately, this is a common problem. You could receive calls , however you cannot access the messages without the screen being fixed. You could try to calibrate the screen and see, if that helps you to make screen a bit responsive. As per LG,this is a common problem and they are working on it. You might see a software patch within few days for these problem. Till then, you could calibrate and see if that helps.You could also pull out the battery for 3 - 5 minutes after calibration. This should help you to resolve the problem unless you need to contact the nearest service center for repair.

My arcos no working teh touch screen so bad because for example u press a dive k d q etc

I believe you are trying to say that your touch screen isn't working. Your touch screen is probably locked. Its similar to a button hold lock, when this is activated, you can't press any buttons do anything unless you unlock it. To unlock the touch screen, press the ON/OFF button (don't hold the button for a long period of time. A message will appear on your screen asking for your conformation (approval) to perform the task. If that doesn't work, tap the TOOLS option, then select SETTINGS, and choose SCREEN. Once you've done that, choose the "Touch Screen Calibration" button and follow on-screen instructions given. If the second solution doesn't work, the "Touch Screen Calibration" option can be forced by using a feature called 'System Recovery'. To do a system recovery, Press and hold the Power button, then the Volume + button as soon as possible until you see a white screen, as system recovery is beginning. While this is happening, you will not be able to use the touchscreen to navigate between items. In order to navigate between items, you will have to use the Volume + & Volume - buttons and use the Power button to validate your selected task. The system recovery feature gives you a lot of options. Select the "Touch Screen Calibration" option and follow on-screen instructions given. I hope this activates your touch screen again.

The calibration on my Samsung Jet mobile is wrong, how do I reset it to make the touch screen work properly

To re Calibrate

Go to setting>phone setting>calibrate

After formatting the archos5 ,the device doesnt get recognised

I fixed my son's 605 4 GB had Recovery code (104) on it. This might work for other error codes too. These are the steps i followed 
* Use the computer for this process that you always used for this archos Archos should be plugged in toPc before starting the process.
* Download the firware Upgrade 2.1
* Plug the Archos to Pc 
* When the white option screen comes up, just pick the format disk
* Wait until all done do not pick any option on archos after format is done Pc should recognize your archos in 5 seconds 

* Put the firmware in root section of the archos not in any folder.
* Safely remove the usb for Archos from your pc first and then unplug the cable.
* Do not pick any option on the Archos screen
* Just turn it off from the power button by holding it until it turns off
* Wait about 5 minutes and plug it back to pc 
* it will come up with white screen again but this time it will start Update you will see the progress bar moving, wait until it is all done, it will shut off. Turn it back on and  your archos will be back to normal

I think you can use the keys ...

Boot up
Press the <> button on the left hand side of the menu key
Use the arrow keys to get to display, press ok
Scroll down to calibration, press ok

Touch screen not working

after reseting my archos 605 my touch screen has stoped functioning properly i youch 1 part of the screen and it keep going to my menu bar i hit video it will open the menu bar or any part of the screen i touch it opens the menu bar
