You never mentioned your drivers, they could be out of whack. Try updating them or get a Microsoft compatible driver. Check the device manager for problems.

I stopped using my m505 for several months. How
I would charge it over night. If the batteries went completely dead sometimes it takes an extended period of time to charge them. If that doesn't work try using the free palm chat. I have enclosed that link. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see Palm chat. From there click on the link that says chat now.
Best wishes.

Screen not responding following extended period of storage...
The digitizer is very thin and paired with the screen. Sometimes they can get so pressed together with time and storage that can cause it to fail. Some people believe that you can put a spacer in there to separate them and try to "unstick it". This involves taking your screen apart and it might not even fix your issue. I would look on eBay or other sources for a replacement screen and just replace the whole thing personally.

Palm m505 Won't Start Up
I have an M505 with the same problem. After taking off the back cover, I found a defective (short circuit) SOT23 device nearly centered just below the expansion card slot. The markings are A5RGC, but I have been unable to verify whether this may be a programmable UJT (BRY61), a transistor or a diode. Does anyone have a schematic diagram, or kno where to get one?

Can't synch my contacts, calendar, tasks or notes to my Palm m505
In order to remove the username from your Palm m505 you need to go into memo pad, create a new document, now the ticky part, you need to right in grafitti a cursive L (hand written low case l) followed by tapping on the screen twice (will produce one period), then the number 5. To test this you can follow the same procedure but change the number 5 to number 4. You should end up with Handheld does not have a usernameand all of your data will still be retained in your Palm. Now when you go to synhronize on your computer select the new user on your computer.

Download the Outlook Security Add-in from this site:
http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/security
Advanced Security for Outlook is free for commercial and non-commercial use.
I have testet it with Windows XP and Outlook 2002 SP3 syncing with a Palm Zire 31 and it works fine.
