Patch of purple "scribble" lines on corner of screen

A patch of what looks like purple crayon scribble lines, pixelated, has suddenly appeared on the bottom right corner of the screen, from my vpl hs10. (No crayons in the house! and it's not on the screen!) I've changed the filter, blown the dust out, cleaned the lens and cover, etc. with no change what-so-ever. It appears to be more internal. Any ideas? I have a very similar problem. I have a green cross-hatch pattern, taking up about 5% of the total screen, running mostly vertical on the left side of the picture. I want to fix the projector if at all possible. I bought the projector a few years ago for about $2500, but I also bought the short-throw lens for another $1000 (which is probably dedicated to this projector only). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a common problem on a faulty Mainboard of a Projector.

Not much you can do about it except repair or replace the Mainboard

No picture, but still displays light

Sounds like a dead screen you'll need to get it repaired. Check if it is still in warranty.

Sony KDF-55W655 LCD TV with screen problem

Your optical block ( light engine) is bad. Heat generated by the lamp circuit with its poorly designed ventilation system, cause the LCD panels inside the light engine to fail. They are the size of a postage stamp. There are 3 LCDs, for red, blue, and green. The heat causes them to warp and de-laminate.

Sony has systematically downed played the scope of this issue. It appears however that virtually every LCD projector they make can develop damage in the light engine which is extremely expensive to fix.

I suggest contacting Sony and your state's attorney general's office of consumer complaints asking for action on this.

Patch of purple "scribble" lines on corner of screen

Sounds like the same problem that I just started having. Although my scribble lines are yellow. Personally I'm thinking that one of the three LCD panels has cracked internally and will need to be replaced.

if the lines on your screen looks anything like the image below, you do have a problem with the lcd, problem is you need to replace what is called the light engin. unfortunatly the price of this part is just about as much as a new replacement tv. Get a sceond opinion fron a sony service center near you, as i cannot see your picute. good luck
