Changing settings won't affect how well the camera works, i.e., the quality of the picture. The only thing that *might* happen is the mechanical pieces will eventually give out. Buttons, motor driving the lens and auto-focus, flash pop-up will eventually give out...but they are (usually) robust. Think about the button presses on a video game controller. Don't do something like toggle a switch back and forth dozens of times before each picture - this is unnecessary usage. Changing the setting for each picture - no problem.

When turned on my Leica D-Lux 3 immediately goes to the Continuous Mode.

It sounds like the Continuous Mode is set as the default setting for your Leica D-Lux 3 camera. To change the default mode, you can consult the camera's manual for instructions on how to navigate the camera's menu and change the default setting to a different mode such as single shot or aperture priority.

HOW TO ADJUST FLASH SETTINGS

Hi,

The Flash mode in the Camera can be changed by pressing the Right Arrow button (>) continuously which will change the settings from Flash Forced ON, Slow Synchro and Flash Forced OFF.

Flash Level can also be adjusted in the Camera by selecting the Flash Level option from the Shooting Menu of the Camera.

Thanks,

Flash options for sony camera

I recently had the same frustrating problem. The top of the camera has a little black button that can change from continuous mode or single picture mode. It has to be on single picture mode to change the flash setting. After this is changed you can press the flash setting onthe dial and change the setting. I hope it works for you.

Camera showing battery exhausted with new batteries

There are three battery type settings in the set up menu: Alkaline, COOLPiX(NiMH) and Lithium. Might be worth looking at. To be continued.

Settings remain

When "Set clear" is set to OFF on the camera, a desirable setting can continuously be held. Even if the power is turned OFF, it can be held before the setting is changed.

Noise during video recording

Turn off Continuous AF (auto focus) to prevent recording camera noise during video capture. When you turn off Continuous AF, you may notice a narrower area of focus or depth of field, especially if you zoomed to a telephoto position before recording. Turn the Mode dial to Video, then press the Menu button. Highlight the Continuous AF menu, then press the OK button. Highlight Off, then press the OK button. (On is the default.) Press the Menu button to turn off the menu screen. This setting remains until you change it, change the Mode dial, or turn off the camera.
