Turn off Continuous AF (auto focus) to prevent recording camera noise during video capture. When you turn off Continuous AF, you may notice a narrower area of focus or depth of field, especially if you zoomed to a telephoto position before recording. Turn the Mode dial to Video, then press the Menu button. Highlight the Continuous AF menu, then press the OK button. Highlight Off, then press the OK button. (On is the default.) Press the Menu button to turn off the menu screen. This setting remains until you change it, change the Mode dial, or turn off the camera.

Back ground noise

You cannot remove the background noise of already recorded material unless you have special software for that purpose. It is available, but costly. To eliminate some background noise, you may in the future, try to muffle the microphone by turning down the volume and recording by moving the device closer to the sound sources. Some folks put a wind sock over the recorder, as you may have noticed during TV News recordings on street events or at a studio. Try a wool or thick sock over the recorder and see if that helps.

Disable audio in video recording?

If the camera doesn't have the option in its menu, you can remove audio after doing the video via video editing software.

Where is the microphone?

The microphone is located on the front of the camera, just behind the flash pop-up button. As far as I can tell there's no way to turn it off, but you can easily strip the audio out and replace it using video editing software on a computer.

That's probably the best way to eliminate wind noise as well. Remember that the camera is primarily an image recording device. Leave the sound recording to a device better suited for it, with a microphone shielded by a wind screen. Or record the sound in a studio. But then we're getting into real money, the way "real" filmmakers work.

Good Day,... When i record with my canon XL1 for 30 mini. , And playback the video i get a mosaic-like noise

This is often caused by digital dropout. Try cleaning the heads and report the results. If the cleaning fails to resolve the problem, we can look for other possibilities, but lets eliminate the simple stuff first.

Thanks,
Dan

Kodak Zi8 Digital HD Camera playback problem

I hope uploading new firmware would improve the quality of your recording: Connect the camera with the computer.
Turn the camera on.
Click onto the link and follow the instructions.
http://wwwuk.kodak.com/global/mul/service/downloads/DownloadLookup.jhtml?pq-path=15372/15504&product=EKN036561

If it can be of any help I did manage to find information on how can I eliminate noise during video recording on the Zi8:
Turn off Continuous AF (auto focus) to prevent recording camera noise during video capture. When you turn off Continuous AF, you may notice a narrower area of focus or depth of field, especially if you zoomed to a telephoto position before recording.
  1. Turn the Mode dial to Video, then press the Menu button.
  2. Highlight the Continuous AF menu, then press the OK button.
  3. Highlight Off or Single AF (certain models), then press the OK button. (On is the default.)
  4. Press the Menu button to turn off the menu screen.
This setting remains until you change it, change the Mode dial, or turn off the camera.

Good luck I hope one or both solutions will help the problem

How do i eliminate wind noise when recording video outside with my sd 1000

Most professional recording mikes have a foam cover to reduce the wind noise. Maybe a small piece of material like that might help reduce wind noise if it is over where the mike(s) are.

I have a CD-1000 Sony camera I want to sell, but have to transfer slides to CD first on it.
