HDN455 worked fine last fall. Turned off for winter. Started this week. Sounds and runs fine but not a drop of water condenses. Coils are not frosted over. Unit is warm along bottom. Air discharge is at room temperature.

Westinghouse Heavy Duty 25 Dehumidifier frost on coils

MIKE - I have the same problem...previously, there was NEVER any frost, and the unit worked just fine. Now, all of a sudden in the last week, frost has been forming...water no longer traverses thru the tube into the sink...and the unit is basically useless/

I think when the original person said "frost", they meant ICE!

Haier model hdn455 serial number 05021110 it runs but has never taken a drop of water out of the air, so it just keeps running

The problem, may very well be, that the humidity extraction level is set too high. Lower it to 35% and see what happens. Keep in mind, the lower the percentage of the moisture/humidity setting, the more it extracts from the household air. The higher the setting, the less it extracts from the household air.

Also, remove and check the air intake filter to see if that needs to be cleaned. It should be cleaned at least twice a week during the operating season.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Dehumitifier wont condense water

This happened to me after the unit was turned on after being off all winter. I've had it just two years. After speaking with "support" I gather that it needs a new condenser, perhaps just because the freon may have escaped. It may be a sealed unit. Anyway, the math works out to simply discarding it and buying a new one. For me, this means not buying a DeLonghi. By the way, their service centers are strategically placed in remote areas to attract the fewest claims HD

The coils frost up for Kenmore dehumidifier model 580.53701300 even the temp is > 70. the fan works fine. there is a few water in the water bucket. the humidity> 65%.

check the drain tube for blockage, maybe run a small rubber hose to clear out blockage so condensation can drain freely. Worth a try worked for me

Will run but won't take moisture out of the air

It sounds as if the fan motor is running, but the compressor is not.

Model HDN455

Check the coils at the back of the dehumidifier to see if there is any frost buildup on it. If there is, turn off the machine for a while until the room warms up and melts off the frost. The machine works by condensing the moisture in the air over these coils, so if the coils are frosted over, or are not cold enough, the moisture cannot condense. If the coils are not cold enough, you may want to get it refilled with refrigerant. You will need to take it in for servicing in this case.

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. - If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.

Everything works, but does not collect water

I have the same dehumidifer - make and model. I bought it less than a year ago. It too runs fine, but now collects no water. Did you ever discover how to fix the problem?
