Make sure the coils are clean both evaporator and condenser, then if there is a capacitor in the motor circuitry, check this, finally if the coils frost, then clear up and frost and clear up time and again, this is a sign of low refrigerant R134a,and this also will make the compressor run hot

you need to purchase what they call a saddle-tap and install it on the low pressure line side of the compressor, then get a 1 lb can of the right number (i.e. r134a) refrigerant thats marked on the unit label, then get the fill hose for the can and open it and add very slowly and with the can upright so you only add vapor and feel the compressor while its running and it will cool down as you add ,but be careful not to add too much as most of these only take about 2 ounces at the most, but consult the mfgrs tag on the unit for its capacity

My dehumidifer will run, but it will not pick up water

be careful. i do not know. set at highest setting and let it run. while running, reduce setting to the lowest over a few minutes. at a lower setting you should be able to tell that the compressor has started. let it run for 5 minutes, then
unplug your machine. next, feel the cooling coils to see if they are very cold. if they are not cold, your unit needs to be serviced.

I have a Kenmore 54701 Dehumidifer that quit working is there any thing to look for or just throw it out and buy a new one

Is it not powering at all? Remove cabinet and check glass fuse on power supply board

Is it running but no water?
Check to see if fan is blowing; if not then thermosenser on fan motor blown

Fan and compressor running but no water? Maybe the room is already dry; if not than probably have coolant leak - not worth fixing

Our humidifer runs but does not collect water.

Againg, if theres no moister in the air it wont remove water. if you feel the location for exmaple a basment feels cool when entering , then mosuet exist. dehumidifer will make any location warm when removing the coolnest in the air. within summer hot months it will collect more water than in the winter months. if it does feel cool and machine dont remove the water. call a repair person.

My model LG3850A20500H dehumidifer is not collecting any water but is running. Is there anything I can check?

You can check the condenser unit, by touching it. (be carefull of hot surface) if the condensor unit not warm at all we can sure that the dehumidifier is not working, (only fan). The problem may be come from compressor or temperatur limit is not working or cooling agent is finished cause by some leakage on the tube.

Unit runs but no water in storage tank

Make sure conditions are not too cold or too dry already.
Is the compressor running?
Set the unit to the continuous run setting or the dryest setting
compressor should start.
If compressor runs but the evaporator doesn't get cold the freon has
leaked out.
If compressor doesn't run no matter what you do the board may be bad.
Also the fan must blow air.

Unit Runs (fan and condenser) but no water?

By condenser I assume you mean the compressor is running. Is there ice forming on the front coil?

No water in tank

have you turned them off, waited a long time, and restarted? if yes, but still problem, both have developed freon leaks. the coils may have "frozen over", verified by looking at them-do they appear frosty? caused by humidistats that are not functioning properly (starting to corrode)...try turning down the stats to allow motors to rest (and frost to melt)
