Everything works, but does not collect water

We have had the dehumdifier for a year or so and it worked fine up until a month or so ago. It runs like normal, but no water is ever collected. We recently bought another dehumidifier that is the same size as this one and it fills at least once a day so I know their is enough humidity for the other so it should work. It is not iced up or anything either. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

I have a Goldstar dehumidifier that is under a year old. It worked fine for months. It no longer collects any water. I cleaned the filters and coils but it still collects no water.

Worked great for 2 seasons. Sounds like its running fine but not even a drop of water is collected in the bucket. I'm getting mould in the basement ...so it is definitely humid

I have the same problem and even bought another one thinking it was a fluke. What a mistake! I am going to Sears to buy a new one for less money and I'm sure they'll stand by their product. I should've done that the first time

Same Issue, works for 1 year. This is A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL/BRAND. AVOID LG and GOLDSTAR. After the warrenty runs out all you have is a paper weight.

  • Purdue72 May 08, 2009

Kees then 2 years old. Worked fine at first, now it does not remove water. Other wise it seems to run and look fine. Might as well have a rock.

I have exactly the same problem. It cycles, cuts on and off, and sounds perfectly normal. Just no water comes out.

I have the same dehumidifer - make and model. I bought it less than a year ago. It too runs fine, but now collects no water. Did you ever discover how to fix the problem?

Can I replace the freon? Or do I just by a new dehumidifier?

A

If everything runs, but it doesn't condense the humidity, it has a freon leak, and probably has no freon left in it.

I am having the same problem, the humidifier sounds like the compressor is running, but does not collect water. We have also only had if for just over a year (purchased 4/20/07) and did not use it over the winter.

I called the customer service center (1-800-243-0000), which is the LG service center. And the only thing they told me was to try and elevate the unit about 2-3 feet in the air. I told them that's ****, it wouldnt' make a bit of difference because we have it in the basement, and all of the air is very moist, not just the air near the ceieling. THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY NO HELP. I'm very disappointed with them.

Halver, you want to make sure that the compressor and fans are operating. Warm moist air is drawn over the cold evaporator coils where it condenses and drains. Dry clean air is drawn over the condensing coils, heated several degrees and returned to the room. If your evaporator or condensor coils are dirty, this could be one reason. Of course if the compressor is not running would be another reason. Check the air filter too. Catriver...post back

Everything seems to work but it is not collecting any water. Two years old, FDL25P11. Has worked perfectly until now, 25 qts every two days

Apparently the room humidity was too low (we were in a long cold dry spell) now that the rains have returned the machine works fine.

Dehumidifier not collecting water

most probable cause of a dehumidifier not collecting water when it appears to run fine otherwise is a dirty heat exchanger. It is unlikely that a huge spread in the time a unit works is caused by failure of the compressor of loss of refrigerant. On the other hand, people use their units in very varied conditions of dust in the environment with expected short to long operating times before failure. Here's how to fix this problem in two steps.

Step 1: Determine if your compressor and refrigerant sealed unit is operational
Step 2: If Step one is negative, dispose of the unit - specialized equipment is required to repair or recharge a compressor. If step one is positive, then clean the heat exchanger.

Dehumidifier does not collect water.

If your dehumidifier doesn't seem to run often but the humidity in the room is high, try adjusting the humidistat control on the dehumidifier to a dryer setting. If the dehumidifier seems to run constantly, but there's little or no water in the container, there may be a problem in the refrigeration system. Try cleaning the unit. If that doesn't work, you can't repair the refrigeration system yourself, you need a qualified appliance repair technician to do that.

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

Another question

I have the same problem. I believe it is because it has a refrigerent leak. When there is little refrigerent, the begining of the coil will freeze up. I would really suggest calling the manufacturer. It is defintely something to do with this specific model
